Canadian SOBBers?

macboy - 19-8-2008 at 12:49 PM

Anyone wanna try out a PL Monster at SOBB and haul it back up to Canada with them so I can pick it up / have it shipped on local soil thereby avoiding international shipping costs and customs fees? This is a potential solution to my quest, may or may not have to take you up on it. We're gonna see if we can get the Monster to SOBB if we can find someone that wants to play with it and then bring it back. This can be for a fee if you wish but I'd need to know up front so I can compare Plan A with Plan SOBB.

Bladerunner - 19-8-2008 at 03:48 PM

I could pick it up and send it off with the Yeti ?
I am getting a lot of stuff to try these days. Chances are I will pass on using it but I'm happy to haul it home and ship it from Van . ?

Dude, you'd be a hero if we could make t work. I'd actually drive out for a weekend to meet you in person if this flies. Kent is going to see if we can find a way to get one to SOBB to be brought home.

Hey,
I would do anything for a person who knows the joys of kiteblading !!!
2,400 km is a long way to drive to pick up a Monster but it would sure be great to get out riding with you !!!

So, is the " monster " a new kite or just a nick name ?

its a giant sized suspension buggy. you might have to break it down to fit in your car. it will be funny to divide this buggy into Ken #2 and Ken #3's car.

Bladerunner - 19-8-2008 at 04:43 PM

OH  I get it now !

Rip is right ! I have room for a kite or 2 but I wouldn't be able to bring up the Buggy . I'm in a little sx2.0 .
Sorry about that. I would be taking Rip' up on the generous offer of the Apexx if I could transport something like that
Ken 3 ( KDMC96 ) is also going down. I could squeeze a bit of it in if he can take the rest. I think he has a rack ? I would be able to assist by shipping it from here if K3 can bring it up.

macboy - 19-8-2008 at 04:44 PM

hehehe...I guess I should have been clearer. If you don't have room I totally understand dude. We don't know for sure that we can even get it out to the coast yetor if overall it'll be better or worse to try so it's not an official plan yet.

macboy - 19-8-2008 at 04:50 PM

I know it's a lot to do for a guy so anything I can do to sweeten the pot let me know. And yes 2400km is a long drive but I've done it before for sushi...surely I can do it to meet some solid pals and pick up a bug...and eat sushi... : )

Still, this is merely a feasability study - I'm not one to put people out so don't do it if it's a hassle in any way.

Bladerunner - 19-8-2008 at 04:58 PM

I hope you can swing it ! That monster is one of the coolest looking beasts I've cast eyes on

ripsessionkites - 19-8-2008 at 05:07 PM

if it gets to SOBB - boxed ... putting it on a Grey Hound Courier from OR to AB shouldnt be that expensive. I've shipped bikes (oversized box) cross border at 30lbs+ and only paid a max of $100.00
they also do COD on the shipping.

Grey Hound is good since they only charge by weight not dimension + weight. only issues are that you have to pickup from the depot.

i'm still at 10% on going to SOBB, but if i'm going ... i'm GreyHound one way and going home with either BladeR (ken #2) or TDMC96 (ken #3). If i go and your buggy is boxed and ready go to, i'll help you get your buggy from OR to AB doing all the shipping stuff.

any time your in Vancouver, contact me ... I Love Sushi.

We (wife and I) used to get out to the coast at least twice a year but with family plans on the horizon I've stopped signing up for ice carving competitions out there. Actually, I opted out of this year's comp because I was planning on coming to play in the water in lieu but never made it. That'll teach me.

Regardless, there WILL be sushi consumed one day soon. I'm gonna see if Ken #3 has seen this thread and if he can help out but if not that's cool. It was worth a try. Kent will help me sort it out somehow.

Bladerunner - 21-8-2008 at 01:36 PM

I can give you Ken 3's phone # ?
If you want it pop me off a U2U !

tdmc96 - 21-8-2008 at 08:43 PM

Not to worry guys...I have been reading....I just don't post to much.
I have sent a U2U to macboy.
I am starting to think that It might be a lot easier to have it shipped directly to macboy.
Maybe check with UPS or Yellow freight to see what they might charge...just make sure you have the weight and dimensions ready when you call.

K2...Make sure we hook up a few days prior(phone call will do) to make sure we meet up on the 29th and drive down together.

WWhhooooo HHooooo.......8 days to go!!!

Cheers all
K3

Bladerunner - 21-8-2008 at 08:57 PM

Yes ,

Hopefully we'll meet up this weekend. I'm set with a complete camp and cabin tent. You should be able to travel with just food, clothes, sleeping bag, gear
and insurance !!! :wink2:

P.S.

I think Mac is trying to get it here so he can come for Sushi

ripsessionkites - 22-8-2008 at 04:07 AM
