Must have been some riding with that 12m in those 20+ mph winds we were having last night.
As far as a helmet, like anything else, cost is a factor and you usually get what you pay for. Those paraglider full face helmets are pretty sweet.
I've also seen at Freddie's a pretty decent full face bmx helmet at a pretty decent price.

I didn't get a chance to join in but I was there for a short time. They were all having a blast though. Eli giving some hairy tandem rides.
Paragliders pushing the wind envelope. Blokarts and people learning how to fly (very smalls kites needless to say).

Motocross helmets are super safe for kite use. Or a nice BMX helmet would work as well. Price shouldn't be a driving force when buying a helmet.
The cost of an expensive helmet is less than one emergency room visit for a head injury.

Whatever helmet you get make sure it has vents. They can get very hot inside. I have a bmx full face and a skate board helmet.
