Hi All,
Need your help with a decision...
I've got a HQ Beamer 2.5, which is about 3 years old and has about 6 flights on it. Great condition. I need to upgrade to a bigger kite, maybe 5 or
6m. In order to upgrade, I need to sell the Beamer.
A kite came up on my local craigslist the other day. Seller is new into power kites and thinks she has a 6 meter Pansh Ace. Wants $125 for it. Says
it's too much pull for her. I've emailed back and forth to try to get a definite fix on the kite size because if in fact it's a 6m, $125 is an
unbelievable price. If it's a 6m, I want it, but have to sell my Beamer first. Don't think she's in a hurry to sell, so I have time (I hope). She
wasn't open to a trade.
Here's the deal... I'm having a hard time figuring out what my Beamer is worth. I've checked the "for sale” area here in the forum, looking at
equivalent kites, but they're kinda all over the map.
I don't know. $150 for mine sounds too much, but on the other hand, Beamer 2.5's in good condition look to retain their value. Am I right?
Thanks for your help!

Why not trade, if you really want a Pansch and she wants a smaller kite.

beamers are better and worth more...a 6m is pretty big, I hear the Ace is supposed to be high performance...a ton of people buy them.
kite buggy speed shop has some sweet deals on brand new high performance high quality kites...'jellis' is his nickname on this forum
the problem with giving up you 2.5 is, you will need that 2.5 once the wind comes up.....can you add another kite to your 'quiver'?

If you can afford it at all, get the kite and keep your beamer, when the wind gets around 15mph that ace WILL scare you and might hurt you, trust me,
you want to keep a smaller kite in your quiver. If you have to sell it, maybe consider getting a 4 meter kite instead of a 6m ace.

Thanks for the comebacks! I appreciate the advice. Yeah, I'm fight'n the urge to sell the Beamer. Wish I could afford to keep it but with little to
spend these days, I need to sell in order to move up. Problem is I want to do a little jumping and the 2.5 is just too small. I'm getting to the age
where I'm not gonna be able to do much more power stuff. Just want to experience a little air while I still can. That's why I'm willing to part with
the Beamer in order to get a size kite I should have gotten in the first place. Got a bad recommendation on size from a kite store.
Yeah, I offered to trade her kites but she feels a Beamer 2.5 is still too much for her.
I'm about 225 lbs. I was told to aim at a 5m or 6m to get any air. Do you all feel that a 6m is pushing it?

we have 6m and 8m Ace. 6m Ace pulls harder than our 7m Blurr. you will be in for big a surprise compared to your 2.5m. your pretty close in size to
DEEZpanshes, you'll get nice jumps with 6m Ace.:karate:
if all you do is static flying and only want to jump you probably don't need the 2.5m but if you ever want teach someone to fly, you'll need it.
if 'she' is average size and has decent winds and does traction the 2.5m is not too big for her. lot's of folks, larger and smaller, have smaller
kites in their quivers.
*i was buggy-ing w/ my 3m Beamer III the other day, not paying enough attention, and had it ripped from my hands twice. i also waited out a couple of
huge gusts that i wouldn't have had i a 2m, or 2.5m.

If your budget warrants there is a Blade IV 6.5 in the sale thread, or stick with HQ and go for a Crossfire 2 6.5. The quality and performance of the
Blade are well documented. The CFs are def not hyped enough...............................................

Great stuff. Thanks! Just curious... I bought the Beamer 3 years ago for $180. Again, its in great condition. No tears, lines are good. Is it
worth say $150 or am I way off base with that figure? I'm really kinda clueless on this.

For your reference
There is a 3m Beamer III on sale here for $160 claimed to be in good shape.
I too have Beamer III 3m for sale for $150 that has a two professionally repaired leading edge/ rib tears, minor seam repair to the kite bag and
brand new line set, handles and kite killers, video CD.
I'ts pretty rare to see a mid-size Beamer on sale at all, and I would expect these to move sooner than later, so if you wait it out a bit you might
get $140-150.

The problem is that someone will have to pay shipping. Add that to your $150 and there is room to go new instead. If you want it to move you may want
to drop it a bit or include shipping ?
You made a good choice and I don't feel the shop owner did you wrong !
Once you get a 6m kite in your hands you will see how it would have been WAY too much kite to figure things out on Most other kites drop a lot more in value second hand. ( accept perhaps the Blade ) It is just that way This was the perfect choice of kite to buy and then resell for minimum
loss. How fast you want to move it dictates your price.

Yep, hear what you all are saying. Okay, I'll give it some thought. Appreciate all the comebacks on this. Very helpful!
