IT IS PURE HEAVEN. too windy for dust, the windjet can crack 120 on it...and its free to use!!!
I'd/we'd like to get riders input as when to schedul an event like this...I'm figuring with gas prices lower now than in the summer it should happen
before next summer...spring time would be best, perhaps this winter is the snow isn't a problem..
cooridinates are below,,,take a looks,it really is the best lake bed for sailing.
39°20'34.16"N 117°26'4.97"W
google earth it....I'm planning another trip for speed runs...
IT'LL BE A NAPKRA TOP SPEED RANKING!!! I'd like to have those who wish to document there top speed come out and try at smith creek...then we can feed
popeye the welder the data and learn how to document with gps and video..
I NEED INPUT SO I CAN GET A GROUP TO GO ALL TOGETHER FOR THE EVENT....

While that looks like an amazing amount of fun, I will have to pass this time around. Unless you are talking about sometime seriously down the road. I
cannot afford a trip like this anytime in the near future. Specially since I'd need to get new tires for my buggy just for this occasion. Would hate
to thrash the only set of tires I have. What kind of lodging options would be available? Specially since I'd probably have to fly from DC to get
there....

Also known as "Two Cows" Dry Lake, it is between Fallon and Austin, NV. I'd love to do an event there! But it is a bit remote, so plan on packing
EVERYTHING in and out. Here are some pics from my adventure out there last year. The "road" to the lake was a bit too much for my dad's rig to handle, so we ended up
camping on the little lake right across the road a bit where it was easier to traverse.
It could be the first annual NAPKRA Cow-to-cow regatta.

wow, looks sweet ... same size as Ivanpah?
goreo95033 - 23-10-2008 at 09:53 AM
They are close to the same area by my measurements in Google Earth; Ivanpah is roughly 10x2 miles and Smith Creek is 6x3 miles (5.88 miles from
cow-to-cow).
4x4 highly recommended. We managed to find our way onto the lake, at the NE end, in a 2WD dually. But we had trouble navigating back the way we came
and just about every path we found we were at risk of getting high-centered because the ruts were pretty deep, and we had no winch if we got stuck.
I'd like to explore the area some more. I expect there is a way onto the lake from Smith Creek Road off of 722, but when we were on the lake bed and
drove to the SW end, it was all fenced. Maybe the NALSA guys know a better way? They have a regatta there every year, I think.

this lake bed is better than Ivanpah,,,size doesn't matter when the winds are clean and stronger....
ricco,, I know you're faster than me...just waiting for you to prooooove it
SCREWYFITS - 23-10-2008 at 03:06 PM
You both should be hella fast... because, you'll be haul'n a$$ when I pass you...
Sorry, I'm just being funny...:moon:
I'd like to go to this event... I gotta work on Rip to get me a deal on one of them Apexx's...probably before/by NABX...
