i always do a complete perimeter run, first 15-20min. always slow runs til i have marked the whole ride area. any ambient light can ruin your vision
about 2-3min.
and a day time view(same day)gives a collection of mental reference points. any people around is an instant shut down until ID and intention is
known.
this type of activity is not for the careless rider. moonlight makes it really cool and reinforces returning.
the solitude is supreme, out hundreds of runs only a few drunk teens, one security guy and 2 groups of spectators. oh yeah one huge turtle must of
been 3-400 pounds.

this was all on my way to town, we have a section of the beach that is lit up about 20 blocks from my lanch point. i had a couple of drunk teens step
away from thier fire to come and see what was going on but they never got in the way.

I used to use Nightrider lights mountain biking in the bush at night. These lights are very high quality and work great on a helmet.

run without lights.
the light ruins your night vision plus you can't see the stars! and all the meteors !
these are the only lights i use the silver set is aluminum lighter than the plastic set.
the plastic set last about 15-20 hours. silver set only about one maybe two sessions
they attach easily to the kite, infact i put them inside the PL's.
