I've been working with these folks on a new site that lets you figure out how much it would cost to drive anywhere. It also allows you to compare
what it would cost to fly.

I've got my mileage figured...
at 1,097 miles at 12mpg max. fully loaded
I'll spend 91.41 gallons each way at an optimistic $3.00 a gallon = $274.25
so If I plan to drive I'll spend an easy $600 on gas...probably about $400.00 on lube and truck check up...
so for a cool $1,000...i'll get to drove 44 hrs for 7 days OF Nabx, 5 nights in a hotel, all the $5 prime rib I can eat, some gamblin, but most of all
we'll all be kickin it with the coolest people IN THE WORLD!!
I might be crazy, but, ARE WE THERE YET

Way wrong!
It says it would cost me $360 round trip from Lafayette, LA to NABX. First I can't believe we would find gas for $1.98 a gallon. Last year it cost us
$1200 in gas.

Last year we found $79 airfare to Vegas 
I think the rent a car was under $20 a day for an HHR.
With the cheap Hotel rates, Prime Rib and entry fee . Combined with the huge feed of at the tent and free T-shirt, what can I say !
My trip to NABX last year was by leaps and bounds one of the cheapest vacations I have EVER had :wee:
It is way up there with the most fun vacations I have had as well.
It's a tight year for travel bucks but possibly the best bang for your buck will be a trip to NABX

I wonder if the 'cost to drive' site figures terrain and variable gas prices...would be nice if it would tell you where to stop for the best gas

Each of those stops shows the current gas price at that location if you click on "how we got our numbers" or something like that. I was just busting
on you about the lube job. Still that's a lot of money though it seems. Tranny ought to be on the list for that money I would think.

BB, oh yeah, when I take the truck 1,000 or more I always have it all checked if my shop reccommends I'll service it all...I try to plan for the
worse...and I'm need my wheels...
dakites, I'd like you to dial up a strong NW wind for my departure...it make a diff if the wind is pushing....driving west through hood river is a
major milage killer...on the other hand, heading east is sweet on the pocket
