Packing down a Flysurfer?

So I haven't had a chance to get out and fly the 7mtr. warrior that I got from NWwakesurf so I decided to inflate it with the vacuum. When I decided to pack it back up, I opened the velcro opening on the trailing edge and began to fold it up. It seemed to take a really long time to get the air out sot I could pack it away, much longer than my Phantoms ever did. So is there a trick to getting them to deflate a bit faster for packing away cause it would suck to have to take this much time on a beach of snow field in the wind just to put her away.

NOW you are getting that zipper club feeling :wee:

One of many improvements from earlier models.

Cut some rings from a bottle or something to set in the openings and hold them open.

Peter Lynn was still using Velcro on the openings back then as well. My Farc was that way. Also the Sarc I gave away.

I found the best packing method to be Flysurfers. Roll up the lines to the start of the bridle. Secure them ! Take the bar to one end. Toss the bridle on to the kite. Fold the leading edge over the bridles. Walk the one wingtip back ( low ) bringing the 2 tips together. Lay the bar on top of the 2 wingtips and roll it up. Works for me, every time !

This is by no means the only way to fold a kite but the best way I have found for my Flysurfers and larger fixed bridles!

sounds like you need a powerzone zipper mod...............................shoot him a U2U. He is doing my Quadrifoils in the next couple of weeks................

Thanks guys, I think I'll try the coke bottle thing first but if that doesn't cut it then maybe a zipper. I wish that I could fly it though, then maybe I wouldn't care so much.

hey dman first of all I'm glad you got the kite.

Yes the velco opening does take awhile to deflate the kite. fortuneately you're only deflating a 7m instead of one of the larger warriors flysurfer made.

I found that when you finally get around to flying it a good method for making the deflation process more efficient is to land and secure the kite with 1 wingtip folded back on the kite about a foot to 2 feet. go ahead and open up the velcro at this point, this helps push air out of the kite while you wind up your lines. then by the time you're ready to roll up the kite there is only a fraction of the air still left in the kite.

also I'm not sure if you noticed but the velcro vent actually has some material that you pull out to keep the velcro from resealing while deflating the kite. I'm sure you probably noticed that already but thought I'd mention it anyway since I didn't notice until powerzone pointed it out to me.

I found that when using this process. packing up the warrior took about the same amount of time as packing up my 12m pulse 2 with a zipper. since even if you have a zipper it still takes time to let the air flow out of each cell and work its way towards the zipper.

I hope you get a chance to fly it soon!

Thanks Christian, I had not noticed the fabric so I am sure this will help speed things up.

Can't wait to fly it!!!!
