Get as much knowledge as you can !
Check out www.kitesurfingschool.org to start.
You want to decide what you want to do. Ride on water, or land.
Then we can use your Weight, Flying location, and typical winds to help choose a kite.
Check out HQ powerkites fot a company with a good choice of trainers for each style.
Don't be afraid to ask questions !

kite depends on what your going to be doing with it, but a 3M kite is a good starter kite there's some for sale on this forum.
HQ ,ozone, Flexifol and Peter Lynn are some quality kite manufactures. theres alot more but these are some of the more popular brands.
Theres some companys like Pansh who sell some some lesser quilty kites but still are ok.
but you can get some good quilty kites for a good deal.
theres alot of opinions here but I've been in your place and I've had luck with lesser quilty kites and some people haven't.
but everyone will agree(I think) that a 2-3 Meter kite is the way to go if you havent flown before. but for which brand everyone has there own opinion
on what a guy should get all depends on what your willing to spend. you get what you pay for.

You've got to give a little bit more information than that if you want to end up with a kite that's a good fit for you. How about an actual
introduction rather than just "pick me a kite". And welcome to the forum.
Here's a decent choice for a first kite:

You flying inland or at the beach?
Static or on some kind of wheels?
beastlybeast - 16-11-2008 at 07:26 PM
I'm flying inland, i dont know what static is , but im not using wheels, i want one that's suitable for a beginner but not something i will "out grow"
quickly so that i will have to buy a new one.
speleopower - 16-11-2008 at 07:52 PM
Flexifoil-Get a Flexifoil kite-the smallest Blade IV i.e. 4 meter. Fly it in very light wind until you can fly it with your eyes closed and backward.
You won't outgrow it........ :wee:
I threw out a name for you.
Good luck-Scott

Welcome
Yeah there are some used Beamers on this site in the For-sale section, which is pretty rare, since most do not part with them.
You will not out grow your first kite. Rather, you will simply keep it as a high winds kite for later as yous skills progress, and/ or keep it to
introduce friends and family to the sport.
I have collected some musings here...
