But it's an evening wedding :tumble:

Derek - you make the rapid expansion of my quiver way back when look like a snail's pace! That's awesome!

revpaul - 19-11-2008 at 10:49 PM

Dpansh,

Paul

macboy - 19-11-2008 at 11:26 PM

Oh yeah, I chatted him up. The dog and I watched them for a good 5 or 10 minutes while we chatted. He seemed to be flying the rig for the first time (hence Mike being there with him) so I didn't want to disturb them too much other than finding out what it was and watching for a spell. We'll see the Outlaw on the lake for sure!

WolfWolfee - 20-11-2008 at 06:58 AM

If the winds pan out like there saying it will be the 1.9 in the air. The old saying goes remember dynamite comes in small packages and the Century has the capability of tearing holes in the sky.....lol:bigok:

Mike was there eh!? I sure would have liked to been there. I here Mike is a decent fella but he's been avoiding me like the plague. after several emails and calls, we finally arranged a meet about a month ago but he jammed with no explanation. I still haven't got my 12m Pulse2 straightened out and it was bought in July (i think).
*in case anyone is interested-i bought the kite used (it was the kite shop owner's personal kite) but it had a couple of issues. the chicken loop is buggered up and the sleeving on one of the mixer lines was worn through. I was told at time of purchase that these issues were going to be rectified. still waiting.

any other edmontonians around wanting to come out?

jaydee - 20-11-2008 at 04:09 PM

Out of curiosity, where are you planning on flying?

revpaul - 20-11-2008 at 04:26 PM

howdee JD,
i believe it's going to be on the SE corner (1/4 section) of range road 235 and Airport road. not sure how familiar your are with south of Edmonton area and range/township system.
pretty much take HWY 2 south to Edmonton International Airport exit. turn east/left at exit, on Airport Rd, instead turning right/west to go to airport. go about 8 miles. you'll see the blue range road (RR 235) signs counting down as youe head east.
come out for a blast.
Paul

jaydee - 20-11-2008 at 04:30 PM

I know the area, as I live in SW Edmonton. Do you fly there often? I hope to make it, but am not sure yet. With a new little one around our house, sleep is nice to have sometimes!

WolfWolfee - 20-11-2008 at 05:19 PM

Sure waiting for some winds to try out the Sabre, 25+ a little much.

macboy - 20-11-2008 at 06:21 PM

If you're in for the ride just toss it up - surely you'll catch the kite and even off eventually ; )

WolfWolfee - 20-11-2008 at 07:12 PM

Sure, like around the Calgary area...lol

WolfWolfee - 20-11-2008 at 07:14 PM

Hey Jaydee, what you flying? Into buggies or boards? fill me in I've been away

jaydee - 21-11-2008 at 07:31 AM

Hey, I have a Blade IV 4.9 and Speed I 10m. I am looking for a 3m next. I've flown mostly static so far, and started to learn to snowkite last winter. The Speed should be lovely for the winter, I have not had it long. I am looking to also get a landbiard this winter for summer use.

WadoGal - 21-11-2008 at 08:29 AM

I'd love to come out with my landboard, but I've got big karate :karate:workshop in Whitecourt.
My kiting time certainly takes a hit in the fall:(
Sounds like you've got a bigger area to kite in too.
It would be awesome to be able to go for a distance before turning around.
let me know if you are planning another gathering cause I'd love to tag along!

revpaul - 21-11-2008 at 10:38 AM

Hi Wgirl,
nice to hear from you again. were buggying on an 1/4 section (1/4 mileX1/4 mile) hay feild. i here it's a wee bit rough on the non-suspension equipped bugs :dunno: it'd probably be noticeably rougher on a smaller tired/wheeled vehicle. don't worry, there's 4 of us with buggies and we all like to share. join us anytime.
Paul

WadoGal - 21-11-2008 at 11:26 AM

Too bad for the landboard then. Ah well, in the spring I am planning on picking myself up a Flexi bug anyway:spin:

macboy - 21-11-2008 at 12:06 PM

I'm not too skilled in the landboard department (haven't quite figured out goofy riding yet - but I'll get it) BUT I did manage to get going regular last weekend and it wasn't too bad. My board has a load of flex though so maybe that helped smooth the ride.

Just like Paul used to say at the Rugby field...."Sure, it sucks to have so many obstacles but it'll just make us better. And once we hit an open space - look out!" Same is likely true with a few gopher bumps on a landboard.....if you can ride there you should be able to ride anywhere! It's not all that bad. You should come out. Good old Bernie won't know what hit him - a full on kite festival in his backyard :wee:

Wgirl,
i've seen your skills w/board. you'd handle this feild/terrain. it'd be a little rough but not much more than the feild at Callingwood. no biggie you'd get plenty time in a buggy seat too.
where are you planning on picking up a flexi bug. i'm considereing gett'n one also (with wide axle). it looks like wolfee will be keeping his(he didn't get the ebay/turtle bug).

i'm absolutely posivitive Bernie and Alice would be tickled pink to see a whack of us ripp'n it up. i mentioned the tandem rig and they both want to go for a ride.
*i tried a couple of tandem passes with DereS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s oldest boy (130lbs-ish) and Bernie/Alice aren't much bigger. the wind was up that day, Derek and I were haul'n w/ 3m Beamer and a 2.5 Razor. i pulled out the 7.5 frenzy for the tandem and the ride was very controlled and not fast (for the most part). i almost got sucked out, early on, a couple times exiting a turn. you think, like usual, as you get back into the wind the buggy is simply going to get back to speed. wrong. the kite powers up and your buggy is not opt to get up to speed. so there you go instead. i really had to pay attention to the basics. plus i had to do long sweeping turns. really paid attention to follwing kite through the turn and not having kite too high or putting kite back into power too soon.

WadoGal - 21-11-2008 at 02:53 PM

I was going to order it from Atlanticwindsadventure.com. I've ordered a few things from them and have gotten great service. However they operate from Nova Scotia. Might cost a bit for shipping. I'm not too sure of any sellers in our general area and I have my heart set on the Flexi.

I'm so bummed that I can't come out this weekend. It's been too long since I've picked up a kite (the last time was that really windy weekend in October - finally figured out toeside riding :eureka: and I'm dying to try some more).

At least I will be in a gym with no windows to stare out!

WolfWolfee - 21-11-2008 at 05:38 PM

You welcome to give my Flexi a try, I really like mine but there not for everyone. I like the slides and 360's and air oh glorious air....lol
Of course going 50 mph three inches off the ground can get your heart pumping...lol.
I am going to talk with the guys this weekend seems likes it time to have a event of our own out at Cooking Lake, good winds, hot food and new friends sounds great to me.

macboy - 21-11-2008 at 06:58 PM

You know it Wolfee. I'm all for trying to bring all of us together no matter what we fly!

Looks like it's on! Could even be a big kite day for us - 25k all day! I'll pack the whole lot! WOOHOO!

revpaul - 21-11-2008 at 10:15 PM

the fella at pipelinesurf said there's a beach at cooking lk we could probably buggy on when the wind is right direction. i've never been.
