Naish Thorn 141

mgatc - 26-11-2008 at 07:06 PM

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone,

Local surf shop made a brief foray into kiteboards a couple of years back. I found a new, Naish Thorn 141 kiteboard in the upstairs overstock area. The owner said he would take $300 for it.
Good deal? Bad deal? Jump on it? Walk away? Counter offer with $?????

Thanks,
mg

What year ?? what is the width ?

With 2009 gear almost available, some shops have clear-out on the Naish board for 500-550 for 2008, and around 400 for a 2007.

So it the board is a 2006, deal OK. 2007 or more, sweet deal.

Apparently that Naish makes good board. I am thinking to buy a Naish Sol soon.

But before buying a Thorn, just check if the board is four your style.

The thorn is the freestyle model. Stiffer, more pop. Less forgiving. Could be bumpy in chops.

Sol is all-around with round tips. Less stiff, but still enough for freestyle, good carving and eats chops.

The Haze is the freeride style. Softer than Sol, eats chops, easy ride. Ideal for beginners or advanced riders who just want a free ride.

I don't know the width or the year.
The owner told me he has had the board for "a while". I wasn't even sure if Naish still made this model. I think he checked on line and saw boards selling for ~$600+ so he stuck an abitrary number on it. He admitted to not remembering what he had in the board.
Being a beginner, this board may not fit my needs anyway.

Thanks,
mg

Haven't bought it yet, but I don't think that it's going anywhere soon. Anyone else interested?

See if you can get the year on the board. Or take a picture of the graphics. Most companies change their graphics every year so that can help narrow down which year it is...

Just noticed the re-newal of the thread. I'll stop by the shop this afternoon and check on it. Unless he "Ebay'd" it, it should still be there.

it is a nice board, great allaround size too.

Hey Mel did you guys get going with 145 ? i know you guys where hooking up nice on the LF. i liked better without the finns. just curious.

The shop still has the board. The top has dark red on one end and white on the other separated diagonally by what looks like a black tree limb. The owner was not in so I wasn't able to get a price. He wanted $300 last year when I asked. Respond here or send a U2U and I will get you the number to the shop.

Phree, we gave the 145 a workout at Pawleys while on vacation. The wind was about 3kts short of what we needed. Still, had some nice rides and was able to stay upwind, returning to my starting point each time. Have not had an opportunity to use the Proof yet, and not from a lack of desire.

Hey Mate!

Give me a heads up when you decide on a "last hurrah" day with the Sofka. Would like to be there.
