Scudding... Is a verb form of scud? And why "scud"???

Any ideas?? :puzzled:

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
Scud: to move or run swiftly especially as if driven forward.

Abridged dictionary definition: SCUDDER: One who is tied to an insanely large kite and drug down a beach or across a field in winds that keep the weather channel guys at home all the while yelling "yahoooooooooo" and saying "wait till the guys see this video on You tube".
