Snob' can feel better !

Bladerunner - 21-12-2008 at 03:11 PM

I am so bummed out

We are having the dump of the Century here :wow:
Problem is we don't usually get snow at all ! Many of the people here have never driven in snow. The car I use for kiting is actually my room mates and He is away for Christmas. The car is here. I was raised in this and will get by O.K. but the other people make it a big gamble. :ticking: I'm sure that my room mate would probably prefer I didn't take the chance :ticking: :ticking:

I'm going to have to make the safe choice and wait it out :megan:

I believe in Karma.

I have spoiled the good nature of this forum entertaining Snob's rants and am sorry !

Looks like I'm getting what I deserve!

We're getting dumped on too. By the time this storm is over we'll have recieved 18 - 24 + inches in the past 3 days where I'm at. It looks like mid February in my yard right now. I just wish the lakes were already frozen :-(

nwsurfwakeskate - 21-12-2008 at 04:10 PM

we have about 6in of wet snow here and its still coming down. only problem is my 13m pyscho 3 is my smallest kite currently that is rigged and ready to fly but the winds are 20+mph right now and I'm not very comfortable on that thing above 18mph

yesterday I attempted snowkiting for the first time though.

turns out 10in deep powder and an overpowered kite don't really mix very well.

basically got my board stuck in the snow and then yarded on to my face. rolled onto my back and got dragged for another 10ft in the snow before I heard a loud thud as the P3 hit the ground. oh yeah then I pulled the safety. it got kinda frozen and the pin didn't want to pull out of the loop. I think I'm going to switch all my flysurfer loops to either North IronHearts or Airush Trigger Releases since the flysurfer loops don't always release in time and they are impossible to reassemble in the water or with gloves on.

nwsurfwakeskate!

Yarded on to your face? Ouch! I'm feelin' ya!

I've got a 7 mtr Flexi Sabre that rocks in the snow at 20+. I'll give you a good deal!

haha yeah it was interesting. I just got whitewashed a bit. no injuries. there was a good 10-15in of soft snow on the ground so it was a nice fluffy but bitter cold face plant.

Bigsteve actually got up on his board for a bit. he has flow step in bindings which seemed to make a huge difference in being able to get going. he eventually ran into the same problem I had though which was as soon as you stop the board sinks and then when you try to start going again you just get pulled flat on your face and dragged.

as for the 7mtr thanks for the offer but I'm gonna have to pass. I'm in the process of trying to get a 10m venom right now.

The sound of a 13m P3 hitting hard is a pretty unique sound, isn't it ! :wow:
I have had my release stick part pull as well ? I thought it was my fault for loading in wrong some how ? Fortunately I had the time to manualy unhook in that event.

It just won't stop snowing here ! In the 20 years I have been here I've seen nothing like it ! :ticking:

Work tomorrow and then travel the next.
Karma is getting me good ! :megan:

the P3 hitting in snow sounded kinda like somebody hitting a tarp with a baseball bat. which brings up an interesting point. I found the flysurfer material feels totally different in cold weather. it feels stiffer and actually makes more noise when you roll or luff it.

I don't think it hurt the kite hitting the field since the snow took most of the impact but I still need to look over the kite. we were in a wheat field and there was some sticks n other stuff that you could see in spots where the snow had been packed down (footprints n such) I suppose there i chance I could have hit one of those but I kinda doubt it. I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed until I have a chance to roll it out and give it a good once over..

ps were still getting tons of snow up here on hoodcanal but the accumulation seems to be staying about the same. I think its melting or packing down about as fast as its falling. its been about 4-6" all day today and around 31-35degrees snowing off and on. winds out of the south east, down to 8mph now but was up in the 30's this morning. too bad I don't have any open fields next to my house

Hey Blade I feel for ya. The wifw has been stuck at the airport in Portland since Friday. :sniff:

It's me and the dogs here, and I'm running out of dog treats and peanut butter.:barf:

Be safe, and stay warm.

You laugh, but I went to fill the jacuzzi on our balcony today (this resort is freaking amazing) and it came out like.....orange... :(

khooke - 22-12-2008 at 09:54 PM

If it came out orange you should have bottled it and sold it on the street... that's called Orangina, right? :-)

USA_Eli_A - 22-12-2008 at 11:03 PM

i feel you blade, its crazy for oregon...

I've been driving 250miles every other day in this. tonight I finally parked the car on the median...lucky for me I landed between 2 trees on a grass median..no damage, just a raised heart rate. actually got "cross rutted" other wise, I wish we had a teleporting device to bring us all together...beerz, yummy

I did tons of scouting today. found massive rolling hills and snow...the wind will fill in later, but with 14in on the ground. I'll have some time to wait.

all I want for xmas is for everyone to get wind!!!

Lucky kiters. No snow here in OK. I can dream though right. I like the wish there ELI. I hope it comes true.

Well down here in Lousiana we had 2 inches of snow last week and today in the 60's and I cut grass all day. Tomorrow in the 70's.
