Power Kite Forum

Hello Everyone

Hey guys and gals,

Just wanted to make a quick introduction. My name is Erik and I'm currently residing in Ohio (south of Cleveland), but going to school in Troy, NY. I had just started power kiting this summer and I'm completely hooked on the sport. I had just purchased a Blaze II from Dakitez, thanks so much btw for your advice and support. It is a fantastic kite IMO and is my first big, depower kite. I've only taken it out for its maiden flight so far, but the experience was amazing. I had to end my session sooner than expected because the winds became qquite strong (30mph gusting to 40+mph) It only took one time of being dragged for more than 300 ft to scare me good for the day. Anyways, if anyone is in the area and wants to fly, hit me up. Until then, happy flying and pray for wind!

Erik

Hello and welcome to the forum...
DAKITEZ is a great guy...
Glad to hear you enjoyed your first flight and glad to hear you made it out OK with that high of winds and a 10m...
Welcome to the sport also, and be safe...
You ever make your way west to Cali. give DAKITEZ and I (Nor Cal Crew) a holler and we'll take you for some good kite'n fun...
You planning on snowkiting? That's a good kite for it...

Yes, actually I plan on learning to snow kite in the future. Unfortunately I don't have the budget for a board right now, and I've never actually been snowboarding. So we will see... only time will tell.

Welcome!
First day snowboarding is usually painful....catching edges and getting slammed down until you learn edge control. Short conventional (not the newer shaped) skis might be better to start out.

I have the opposite problem, lifetime on skates, skis, and boards, but just started power kiting and need more static fly time.

A great bunch here with tons of exp. willing to help.

btw, Keep an eye on Craigslist and join Freecycle.org if it's in your area. Freecycle Emails you a digest of people getting rid of things they no longer need/use in your area. You have to respond FAST or someone else will beat you to the item. Email goes to my phone so I respond as soon as I see it.
I scored a pair of skis, X/C skis, a snowboard, bikes and skates for the kids, skateboard ramps, laser printer, etc.all in nice shape and FREE.
We have also offered a ton of stuff our kids outgrow or no longer use and the response is always overwelming. Either the first person to respond, or the best "story" gets it. Great idea.
