need to be convinced

I have once been taught to fly a 2 meter training kite by a teacher. It did not generate enough pull though and I now want to get back into the sport with a larger kite about a 4.0 meter. If I had a 4 meter and weighed 110 pounds and flew it in 5 to 15 mile winds, would that be dangrous? I'm ask this because I know it wouldn't generate twice as much lift... it would be close to four times the lift. I want to avoid getting a 3 meter because what if that isn't enough? Then I would have to save up all over again.

A 4 meter should be allright as long as you start off in the 5 mph winds first. At 15 mph it will still be manageable and you will be able to get some good air.

I should tell you, I am not a fan of 3m kites though.

thanks for the info. does a radsail sound like a good kite? if not, throw out some names in the 200-275 price range.

I started with a 3.6 metre kite which was fine in the lower winds but when the winds were high, 15mph, then I didn't take it out. Now having learnt to fly its fine in up to about 20mph without too much trouble.
The kite was a HQ Beamer which seem to have increased in popularity recently!!

for 200-275 you should get a really good kite mins a 3.6 and it only cost me £80 off ebay.co.uk

I just got the Beamer II 3.6 and took it definitely generates some decent pull. 10 mph winds today about 15mph gusts allowed me (150lbs) to jump around 5 feet up and 30 feet forward. Though I do need to learn how to land.
