As promised here is another video from the day we shot the "epic kite fail". This is Tyler showing off. He has a great jump after scudding half way
across the field. You can see he gets pretty high. I just wish I was a bit closer with the camera.

Where's your safety gear?

No disrespect but it looks more like the kite is flying you ?
The method you are using looks like suicide to me ! Are you just flying the kite into the power zone , sitting on your butt and waiting for it to toss
you downwind ???
Do a bit of searching on here and see how to do a jump properly.
Susan is right about padding. A helmet at least ?
Please be aware that you and your friends are representing the WHOLE kiting community. If you make a bone headed mistake and it makes the news WE ALL
LOSE !! Kiting is getting banned all over the place. Please don't make it harder for us to be respected . Not just your local kiting spots are on the
line here !
Sorry if I sound like I'm a parent or something but this isn't exactly childs play ! Do YOU pay your own medical bills or are you potentially
bankrupting your parents ?

Whoa, first of all you are making some pretty serious accusations here. I don't appreciate your assumptions at all. I'm 28, have three kids of my
own, own my own home, pay my own bills, and don't appreciate being talked to like I'm twelve. We understand that safety is important, I've been on
these forums for a while now and power kiting even longer. The tone of your post is insulting.
Let's not start making character judgments based on a 20 second video. If I thought Tyler didn't know how to handle a power kite there is no way I
would let him do it. No he is not waiting for the kite to toss him downwind, and he knows exactly what he is doing. If you think that first jump was
anything but calculated you are not giving him enough credit. That type of jump takes skill. Skill that comes from hours behind a kite.
I'm not looking for an argument but I must say your post rubbed me the wrong way.

I was clearly off base.
What I thought I was seeing was a bunch of young folks sharing a kite and using it to get hurled downwind and out of control without even a helmet ?
I am getting old I guess. That pisses me off! So you get a bit of instant Karma. I hope that helps !
McDuck - 14-2-2009 at 09:52 AM
No problemo. No one likes to think someone could get hurt, we all need to be careful out there. No matter how old we are or how long we've been
doing this.

I thought those jumps and that long scud looked totally intentional and pretty well executed. I love throwing my legs back like that during a
kitejump for the faux-raley effect :frog:
McDuck - 14-2-2009 at 10:35 PM
Yeah, I still can't do that. =P
Bladerunner - 23-2-2009 at 02:29 PM
This is exactly what I was trying to get people to understand when I replied to your post.

I know you aren't kids but please take note of how our actions can effect the whole kiting community !
