I just got a call from tridude while he was at the beach in light winds with his 19m Venom. He was about 50 yards away from his flying kite that was
attached to his kiteboard held in place by some driftwood and sand. I was on the phone with him for 15 minutes or so and it flew like that the whole
time. Beachgoers would stop, look and take pictures, then ask Don questions about how the kite did that. It never hinted that it would do anything
but continue to hover there waiting for further instructions. Tridude had some clever things to say to them about it being "magic" and chock full of
modern technology. Yep, my 5 year old phannie seems to have that same modern tech built in. Tri will be along to finish the story soon I imagine.f0rgiv3n - 25-3-2009 at 11:04 AM

There was one time at the rugby field that I tried the same thing with the Guerilla to show off to Paul and Derek......I tied it off to the bleachers
and the kite luffed and fell out of the sky believe it or not. Not to blame the kite mind you - the wind was really dirty that day and the location
not any help in cleaning it. I have since, and often, enjoyed the autozenith whether while flying (getting rippin' a little more that I'd like so I
let go and eventually we all slow to a stop with the kite sitting waiting), or while trying to get into my ski skates or adjust my harness or get a
drink of water or eat a slice of pizza or, or, or......
Actually, when i hit the water last summer I had inadvertently hooked the lines up wrong - there was a twist on the RH lines. I hooked the Chickenloop
up to the dock, got out of the water onto the dock and pulled a line off to untwist it WHILE the kite was flying. Granted, I did it VERY quickly, and

Been tying off my arcs for yrs at the beach. I attach it to my luggage rack on my xterra. I launch in the morning and land in the evening. One day i
sailed my boat to a local launch, had 18m phantom tied off to the sailboat while i had lunch and a smoke. 45 minutes later the wind was up and i was
kitesurfing out my back door. The kite will sit there all day as long as the wind is 7mph or more...........aj

That is, truly, one of the very neat things about those Peter Lynn kites.
Though, I have to say, in gusty wind, that auto zenith can be a bit tricky.
Was on the beach with a friend trying out a Synergy. We were just standing there talking, he was strapped into the kite and had let it sit there at
the zenith. Was doing just fine. Then the wind luffed, the kite fell, a gust kicked in, and our friend was suddenly airborne. He came down about 15
feet from us. Was a bit of a shock really. He landed alright, and we had a good chuckle, but that was a bit startling.nwsurfwakeskate - 26-3-2009 at 01:32 PM

Isn't the post above an example of why ' stay low and go " applies even to the arcs ?
In my little mind the auto zenith is there to take care of the kite while you go through the rinse cycle. Or for tying off to a log for lunch. Not for
standing around !
Even I have to constantly remind myself not to be standing around with the kite at zenith pretty often but it is the ONLY right way to do it. I THINK
that applies to arcs as well ????
