arkay - 28-3-2009 at 07:29 PM

I'm already there :bigok:

heliboy50 - 4-4-2009 at 09:02 PM

Who would I need to get a hold of for more specifics on this? Is it at Manzanita?

arkay - 4-4-2009 at 09:18 PM

It's on sunset beach, just north of seaside:

heliboy50 - 4-4-2009 at 09:27 PM

SWEEET! I was thinking it was farther south than that. Thanks for the info arkay.

centex_buggier - 12-4-2009 at 02:10 PM

Wooo Hoo I'm booked. See you all there.

Steve.

Bladerunner - 13-4-2009 at 11:03 AM

SOBB is a super easy going affair so I'm not sure the website is updated yet .

If you google it , SOBB stands for some pretty crazy stuff but this is what We are talkning about.

ripsessionkites - 13-4-2009 at 01:04 PM

final dates?!?

see you there, i hope. :tumble:

f0rgiv3n - 13-4-2009 at 01:16 PM

SWEET! Hope i can make it this year!

centex_buggier - 13-4-2009 at 07:20 PM

I hope these dates are final, cause I booked my flight.

jellis - 13-4-2009 at 07:55 PM

Sept 5th thru the 13th 2009........... Rip you need to join us.

Bladerunner - 13-4-2009 at 08:33 PM

I can't wait !!!! :wee:

SOBB was my 1st taste of what a true natural kite playground was. For our Vancouver crew it is one of the few times each year we get taught from the " masters " and get to travel full speeds or drink Duck Farts.

I missed the 1st year that I could have gone and some of the people became minor legends in my new found world. The Folks on that Beach are the most friendly, helpfull, safe and fun bunch you can imagine. Living up to that legend status in my books. Rarely do people and places acceed my expectations but , like the rest of Oregon, these are amazing people with a unique event.

Sobb isn't as big as NABX but the hearts of the people who put it on certianly are !

Centrex' , I look forward to seeing you again. Glad you can make it !

csa_deadon - 11-5-2009 at 10:36 PM

Ya' mean a tandem ride if your back isn't up for the strain? I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem at all. I should have a another bug or dedicated tandem set up by then. I'm not to good with the bug yet, but I gots' time to practice.

dirtslide - 18-6-2009 at 10:18 AM

i have my own buggy that i will be bringing with me as well as one of Jellis tandem set ups so we are covered .keep up the practice ,it would be a shame to have a big wreck and both of us end up hurt.:spin::tumble:

USA_Eli_A - 18-6-2009 at 10:20 AM

if anyone is intersted in Renting a Beach house let me know. I've found some cool places that would be rad to split up to 8 ways.

f0rgiv3n - 18-6-2009 at 10:31 AM

I'm shootin' to be there! I'm going to just sleep in the back of my subaru ;P. I'll need just a parking space somewhere hahaha. :Ange09:

arkay - 14-7-2009 at 01:42 AM

Poke, reminder.

jellis - 14-7-2009 at 11:01 AM

SOBB camp is on again for this year sponsored by Phil Thompson all we ask is that you donated to the fund that helps Phil pay for garbage, water, electricity, firewood, and on and on. We buggy all day at the beach and have a pot luck each evening at Buggy Camp.
Please contact me for directions to Buggy Camp if you have never been there.

Hey Forgiven, if my job holds out until then, which it looks to be, I have a pretty great spot to park your suby if you dont stay at the kite camp. Im just down the road from the beach too!!
Your more than welcome.

I have a small tent that you are more than welcomed to. A couple of them actually if anybody else is in need.

f0rgiv3n - 18-7-2009 at 10:35 AM

Thanks for the awesome offers!! Loop, thanks for the great offer, I do think I might stay at buggy camp just for the heck of it though. And Jim, thanks for the offer on the tent! So far I am planning on just me and my brother coming, depending on the situation we will just stay in the suby. I will keep that in mind and ask you if you still have it available if it comes to it. Wooohooo!

WIllardTheGrey - 29-7-2009 at 12:31 AM

Afraid the boss denied my request off:mad: I guess that is labor day weekend. bah-humbug, gona try for 11,12 and 13 now

Btw jellis I e-mailed you about directions too buggy camp but never got a response, I just probably typed in your e-mail wrong.

jellis - 29-7-2009 at 10:09 AM

U2U sent.

Bladerunner - 30-7-2009 at 05:03 PM

I just booked a Kabin at the KOA for Fri. through Tues. I was able to extend my long weekend but that is all the time I could get off. I miss out on races but at least get to enjoy the free for all weekend.

I enjoy hanging out at buggy town but it is also nice to have a Kabin to Krash in!

I'm getting excited already!:bouncy:

windzup - 31-7-2009 at 12:08 PM

I missed the last couple rally's...looking forward to getting Sand between my toes and tires again.

If there was one weekend to hit, is it the first or the last...obviously both if possible I'm sure.

Whats allowed at Buggy Camp, tents only, or are trailers OK?

I'm happy to add to the potluck, I'll bring up the dutchies.

Have Kites...will travel...until the wheels fall off my mofo buggy.

Windzup,
Brian Schenck

Bladerunner - 31-7-2009 at 08:16 PM

The racing is held after the long weekend so if that is your goal the second weekend may be best.
I know some people have RV's but Jon or someone can let you know what is available for power / water.

fogg62 - 3-8-2009 at 11:54 AM

I'll be there the 9th for a couple of days. My son from MO will be with me. Our wives will be along, so we'll be looking for a hotel (no KOA). Any recommendations?

centex_buggier - 3-8-2009 at 08:37 PM

motel 6 is between $69-$79 a night. The best I could find that is clean and not too much.

fogg62 - 3-8-2009 at 09:42 PM

Thanks for looking. Already got hooked up. See you all in September.

ripsessionkites - 4-8-2009 at 05:14 AM

ill be down from sept 3 to 8, if not longer i hope. trying to hit the gorge too for some kitesurf.

My thinking is that as long as conditions are safe and there are at least 2 people that want to race... it's on..:ninja:

bigkid - 4-8-2009 at 07:21 AM

Well lets get the racing under way, I'll race you down to Sunset on the 3rd and see who gets there 1st. LOL

Hope the winds are good and the fog stays away. It sounds like a lot of people are going to show up, should be a great time.

alright it's on ... you v.s. me. eat my dune sand!!! :P

what's the average wind in september? i might be flying into Portland first, and cant take everything.

sunset-Jim - 4-8-2009 at 04:08 PM

It's usually a bit on the light side. Not LIKELY to get anything over 20 mph, but can happen.

Bladerunner - 4-8-2009 at 05:26 PM

The last 3 SOBB's that I have been to I have been able to use everything I had along for kite sizes. Sometimes within a few hours :shocked2:

jellis - 5-8-2009 at 11:02 AM

Because the holiday weekend brings a few more people to the beach we usually just buggy for blood (fun). Then Tuesday we start course racing and enduro racing, tide and wind permitting and can continue until the next Saturday. Two days of racing will be the goal.
