No intel yet but here is a picture of the new ARC PL is working on. These kites will be available to try out at NABX.

acampbell - 31-3-2009 at 08:44 AM

I know it is called the Charger. Hopefully see it later today. I'm as far as Houston.

BeamerBob - 31-3-2009 at 08:53 AM

Angus, I'm living vicariously through your travels. Keep us posted when you can on the cool stuff out there.

mgatc - 31-3-2009 at 10:12 AM

Bob, U2U sent.

macboy - 31-3-2009 at 11:16 AM

Someone suspected that of being a custom color Synergy though so I'm not sure. Keeping my eyes out for sure. Bob, have you got any further dirt other than this pic? I'd love to hear what's been dug up - I've yet to come across anything concrete.

Although, I hear Gunnar is at NABX so maybe he'll slip some dirt.

BeamerBob - 31-3-2009 at 11:32 AM

They talk about it on the facebook page for the PL Kite group as it being the new ARC. Angus has heard direct from PL that it will be called the Charger. They also mention that it will be at NABX to try out. A custom colored synergy wouldn't create a discussion like that. We should have some seat of the pants talk about it as the week progresses at NABX.

rudeboysaude - 31-3-2009 at 12:38 PM

Sweetness!

Is this supposed to be a Scorpion replacement.. Land ARC or a Vortex replacement? My work blocks Facebook so I can't see the discussion there. Sorry.

If it truely will be at NABX I can't wait to see it, and hopefully try it out if I can bribe the right person. Always fun to see a new Twinskin! If it's coming to NABX, I have to believe it's a land kite. Leaving tomorrow morning. See ya there.

BeamerBob - 31-3-2009 at 12:53 PM

I don't think the ARCS are categorized so tightly. They seem to just be more inclined for land or water. Even my phantom is usable on the water, but it isn't a "land" kite according to the literature. I know it is more suitable for land because of its incredibly high AR and water relaunch issues. I bet if you let it be known you'd like a go on the Charger, it can happen for you. I can't wait to hear the reports.

rudeboysaude - 31-3-2009 at 05:39 PM

Yeah I used to fly my phantom on the water all the time, but it defiantly was more difficult to relaunch off the water. Even if I don't get a chance to fly it, it will be sweet to see it in the sky. Thanks for the heads up.

macboy - 31-3-2009 at 06:23 PM

Man....it's almost enough to convince me to finally give in and join Facebook......almost but not quite. BB - I know you'll keep us in the "know". Thanks for filling in the blanks, can't wait to hear reports from NABX (as I sit and wish i were there......)

BeamerBob - 31-3-2009 at 06:53 PM

I just always assume there are kite geeks out there just like me that want to "know". When I come across something that I know has a high level of anticipation in the community, I love to be able to share it. So if I hear first, I'll pass it along.

Update from ArcUsers:

Ok, Here is what I can say.

1) It's a new kite, designed from scratch.

2) Mid AR.

3) More cells than synergy

4) 2 Intakes, this gives the kite more pressure, and makes the kite faster and
more responsive. This does not have a negative effect on the inflation of the
kite. On the contrary, I can launch them with a lot less prefinflation than the
Syn.

5) It has a redesigned VPC. It has far lighter turning pressure and more
direct power/depower.

6) Turning speed is excellent

7) The pulley is now removable

More:

"I just got my album of photos from NABX online.

http://www.mnadventure.com/index.php?option=com_rsgallery2&a...

I took a couple pics of the Charger and they are near the end of the album. I
didn't get a chance to fly it. The winds were strong enough that I wanted
something I was comfortable on and knew. I did get a chance to do a quick
interview with Marjin and Gunnar before they left sunday for a podcast though
and I'll try to get that up soon as well."

Bladerunner - 8-4-2009 at 09:16 PM

I got the pleasure of tearing up the Playa with the prototype Charger at NABX :wee:

Marjin, who was kind enough to set me up took lot's of pic's of me tearing it up at 36.6 mph for them !

I have a TON of good stuff to say about the kite. But the Pulse and I are having divorce issues so I will sing it's praises later

If my new LOVER comes to me She will be a brand new Charger in June. :wow: :wee:

macboy - 8-4-2009 at 09:18 PM

That good huh?

*envy*

Bladerunner - 8-4-2009 at 09:22 PM

UH HUH !
:wow::wee::wow::wee::wow:
This girl ASKS to be spanked around !

macboy - 8-4-2009 at 10:17 PM

Now wouldn't THAT make for a great emoticon.....

rudeboysaude - 9-4-2009 at 11:01 AM

I got the interview with Marijn and Gunnar up yesterday as well talking about new kites.

LINK HERE

Here's a pic of the new race kite from PL also.

Should be competition for the yakuza.

csa_deadon - 9-4-2009 at 11:29 AM

One more thing, FWIW, the front lines come down to a "Y" line and the safety dumps on the front. Gunnar seemed as if they went with the front line safety by popular demand, but did so reluctantly. He admitted that relaunch might be easier, though.

ripsessionkites - 9-4-2009 at 03:22 PM

for those of you that came to nabx got to demo a lot of the new stuff coming from the PL House.

all the new PL buggies now come with a slightly higher back, and deeper seat.

regular sizes for the Charger will be available for the public in June maybe a bit later. however im TELLLING YOU NOW, PRE-ORDER if you want it for JUNE.
the two smaller sizes in the series 6m? and bigger size 22m? will be custom order.

for you fixed bridle lovers, you will enjoy the new Rector II coming next month and the Vapor a few months later. I had the pleasure of riding both the Reactor IIs and the Vapor. the vapor is fast, and that 11m is an awesome light wind power machine. the reactor IIs are super stable, less bridle lines, and the faster you go the more stable it is. i know i did 108.2km on the rector II 2.2m "un tuned", than we tuned it for Faster Arie in 30mph+ winds to achieve 116km

(team riders) will get their series sooner ... BladeR, i got your Charger on order when you pick your sizes.

vtliter - 9-4-2009 at 03:54 PM

What sizes will the Charger be available in? How will the sizes compare to Syn's for windrange? What size(s) will be the "cherrys" of the line?

rudeboysaude - 9-4-2009 at 04:33 PM

Same sizes as the Synergy. I'd pick your "cherry" size in the synergy that you like, can't go wrong!

macboy - 9-4-2009 at 08:00 PM

csa-deacon - I WISH I could lay claim to the pics. They are the proud possession of Markite (I think that's rudeboysaude). Props to him for grabbing them and posting them so fast for us all to dream about.

flyjump - 10-4-2009 at 09:17 AM

I heard that there is only going to be three colorways. Kinda how the synergy is i guess. I know that it has a new revamped vpc system and it has an optional method of taking off a part of it if you want. Supposedly there are a bunch of photos on facebook about it. I also heard that there is only 2 intake vents on the front of it. It supposed to turn way faster than the synergy as well

I guess this better explains why I don't have Arc's in my quiver yet.

It was sort of a matter of being patient and honest enough to admitt that it is The Charger that I am sold on so waiting rather than flying something else made more sense.

I am just hearing now that there is going to be a waiting list.
