Help finding 2 videos !

Bladerunner - 18-4-2009 at 05:31 PM

The 1st one is EASY !

I saw it on here just the other day. It is a 1st perspective from a tandem buggy . A.J. , Kitemaker and all sorts of familiar faces ride in and out of the film as they go along ?

The next one is tough .

Years ago I saw a video ( on Flexi's site I think ) with a guy riding a sport wheel chair. ???

PLEASE if you find it ( or any good parapalegic land kiting flics ) forward it to me !!!!!!!

We have an amazing Guy that already kiteboards and rides a P.L. KiteKat here .:wow: I have a vision for others and KNOW I have seen a set of skills with a chair and kite will work together. No super special equipment needs developed to get it going ! No water so more accesable to people with " altered abilaties ".

Our Mentor Dirtslide will be lucky enough to walk again ( after a broken back ) but is meeting and probably inspiring a whole new crew at the rehab center , if I know Him. :saint:

I see LOTS of people goofing around with wheelchairs and kites in my search. The video I know I saw the guy was tearing it up ! holding ground and making some nice smooth turns as I remember.

Bladerunner,
Last SOBB there was a guy from Vernon who was buggying in his wheelchair. He was tacking up the beach and doing pretty dam good. Were you there at the time? I remember seeing him set up and cautioning him that the kite seemed pretty big for the conditions with him being in the wheelchiar, but he proved me wrong.

No I didn't see Him .

Is that Vernon Wash. or Vernon B.C. Canada? I wonder if anyone can put us in touch ???

I have wanted to introduce this idea here for a long time.
Now that I see the world from Archaholic eyes I think I have the right kite for them as well. A person in a chair can theoretically self launch an arc ?. Once it is up , it's up all day so should match the chair well ?

I just need D'sliddy to get the fellow that builds the chairs at our rehab center to set us up with those wheely wheels ?

He was from Vernon BC. I don't have his contact info, but might be able to dig up some photos. Hopefully he'll show up this year.

Anyway, sorry to rub it in, but it's 75 deg and blowing outside, so I'm going out to the local park. It's going to be hard to accept how small my field is after NABX.

If anyone runs in to this guy PLEASE put us together!

My Mom lives just an hour up the lake in Peachland so I get out there often.

That is the clip that got me all excited about this idea.

I can't help but think there are tons of folks in chairs that would love to try this !

Hey Ken.
I found a few interesting things on the Extreme kites forum about wheelchairs and kites...looks like he uses a chair made for basketball but I still can't see how he turns, other than shifting his weight.
Here is the link.
