does anyone know if it is possible to use a 'flat' kite for traction? imagine a power kite profile with no cells; like a kitesurfing kite with no
bladder. 4 or 5 lines, maybe a C-shape? reinforced leading edge perhaps. has anyone made/flown something like this? granted i am new to traction
kiting, but the physics appear to make it possible. why do land-based power kites need inflatable cells? im about to take a pair of scissors to one of
my old tents. thanks.ripsessionkites - 24-4-2009 at 03:27 AM

Also, check out the "paraflex" or something like that. They are very popular in Quebec for kite skiing.kitemaker4 - 24-4-2009 at 06:51 AM
Nasa wings are a single skin kite. I fly them all the time.
Check out my webshots page in my sig. and you can see some of the kites I have made in the past.

I LOVE the performance of the C-quads ! The most fun kite to fly that I have tried in a long time !
I have two more on order ! the 8.5 should be CRAZY :Ange09:
I think Ripsession can order in C-quads in larger larger sizes still ! :cool2:
There is no rule that says you need to fly Ram Air foils on land. They just tend to be the most popular.
Without the twin skin extra support is needed . Either by extra bridles , spars or inflated parts.
The cells + internal cross bracing reduce the required amount of external bridle. Making things more efficient.
Spars break and Nasa wings are a bit limited, needing a lot of bridle.Dagon - 24-4-2009 at 08:25 AM
bbrex has a nice set of c-quads for sale here on the forumBladerunner - 24-4-2009 at 11:04 AM
YES,
Peter Lynn no longer have the smaller sizes.
Those 2 4.2m C-quads will be more and more tough to get as time goes by ! ( I already have one in that size )
They are a very good deal IMHO !elkiter - 24-4-2009 at 11:53 AM
It's even possible to buggy using dual line A-Framed kite (Delta).
thanks for the info folks!awindofchange - 24-4-2009 at 03:37 PM
The Revolution Power Blast series kites are awesome to use in the buggy. For performance, they match the best of the highest quality race kites in
both upwind ability and overall speed. Size per size they produce about double the power.
