has anyone taken a buggy to oceano/ pismo beach? i will be there over the memorial day weekend to do some four wheeling (jeep wrangler) at the dunes.
it is an SVRA park so the dunes are dedicated to 4WD vehicles, but i know a large portion of the actual beach is off limits to 4WD vehicles. i have
seen kitesurfers in the water, but no buggy/ landboard jockeys. does anyone know if the "off-limits to vehicles" area is buggy friendly?
I've heard rumor that it got shut down to buggies, and I can't remember who it was, but I know it was on the "PKF" somewhere...
Maybe kiteslinger would know, he goes down there a couple times a year I think...
I know they are fighting to get everything off the dunes also... I think it's that damn snowy plover, that damn bird seems to be everywhere, "I
thought it was endangered"...
I'm gonna start using the snowy plover as an excuse too...
"sorry babe I can't cut the lawn, the snowy plover"
"sorry officer, I was driving fast so I wouldn't bother the snowy plover"
"no officer, I wasn't drinking, I was swerving to miss a snowy plover" (and no I don't drink and drive, just making fun)
Well I better stop before I scare a plover (sore subject)
I'm sure someone will be along to help out here...KYTE SLINGER - 26-4-2009 at 10:10 AM
I haven't ventured to pismo since the "ban" ....use to be OK from the pier So. to the creek is city side and was alright....
more than likely don't even try ....that weekend will be packed with people the life guards will be freak as it will be park & Rec. will also
be high and mighty..better to blend in tearing up beach with knobby /paddle wheels , omitting toxic
oil & fuelKYTE SLINGER - 26-4-2009 at 05:42 PM
just up from Pismo
Marro Bay was lit yesterday 45mph gust :wee: not a bad spot... never saw P&R or lifeguards.... different sand bars can reveal potato size
rocks{in spots/not many} to smaller smooth face rocks so a front fender would be wise
ample parking on the south side and another that gets you away about a mile from the So.lot just fallow dirt street just after you pass the power
plant...
food & lodging not far lots of, fish type of restruants one maybe two fast food types towards the freewayspvone - 26-4-2009 at 06:31 PM
nothing wrong with the plovers... as long as they're medium rare. thanks for the info folks. i will be there with few dozen friends that weekend, if
anyone is in the area and wants to drop by to share a few dozen beers/ jagermeister shots/ bbq etc. lemme know. plenty of provisions for everyone.domdino - 27-4-2009 at 04:50 PM

I heard a rumor that buggies were allowed on the beach if you had brakes on them, can anyone confirm this?KYTE SLINGER - 27-4-2009 at 08:36 PM
I know of one time that they wanted to "SEE" a mechanical break system to go on the state side of the beach and yes they were made.. all it was, was a
handle, a length of round tube and a 2x3"{at most}surface pad.... when operated drag the sand recoil by a spring or compression cord
just make sure it's high enough out of the way were it won't snag any thing when going backwards:o and the handle shanks you in the ribs mine didn't have a stop lock so I got a good dose of dumb a$$spvone - 28-4-2009 at 12:34 AM
i dont suppose you have a picture of this braking device thingee...art_lessing - 28-4-2009 at 01:34 PM
