Glad i put away the kite. was 10-18 then it hit 35-40 within minutes and its sustaining. Forecast was gusts to 25 but radar looked just this nasty; worse of shore. I'm still out on the beach enjoying the wind taking videos of sand clouds, there's no rain! Crazy part is the seas are pretty calm. if it weren't due south i bet there'd be some mad kite jumpers in the water.

We just had 2 severe thunder storm warnings on TV over here in the valley. That's rare. It was just sprinkling one minute and then 40+ gusts the next.

Yesterday was fantastic at Sunset. We had nearly perfect onshore wind for a bit mixed in with more wind from the south. I flew from about 1 pm to 4:30 so so and it was 13-20mph the whole time.

Yep, last weekend was a good one. Last Sunday was awesome, a work week filled with rain, then Thurs it clears out with the perfect west wind making for my first trip down to the river and back. Fri,..... totally windy and sunny for my first ocean rides on my board after work, before an evening hickfest bullriding event. (Gotta do what the girlfriend wants sometime)

It looks to be shaping up the same for today, chores in the morning, another water session then calming back down for a sunday buggy ride tomorrow. Yep Im pretty much lovin the OR coast about now.:wee:

f0rgiv3n - 1-6-2009 at 09:25 PM

This coming weekend. Well, I'm hopin' for the best! :P

csa_deadon - 1-6-2009 at 09:30 PM

I may try to get up there on Sunday. Got daughters graduation, and all night party Saturday.

heliboy50 - 1-6-2009 at 09:55 PM

I'll try to be there Sunday. Gotta' get the taste of how this Sunday ended out- whining, screaming, handle smashing tantrum. Talk about feeeling like a grade-a Jacka$$. My girlfriend flew my 1.7 sting all afternoon and had a great time (1st real session with a quad and first time in 3 years that she has flown any kite.) She said later "OK now I see why you're so into this. I wanna' try the next size up next time."

sunset-Jim - 1-6-2009 at 10:30 PM

I'll have to see if I'm up for the drive... *smile*

OK, I'll probably be there.

archkiter - 1-6-2009 at 11:12 PM

I'm planning on next Sunday too. I got most of the house chores out of the way this weekend :)

f0rgiv3n - 2-6-2009 at 11:44 AM

Well shoot, i'll probably miss those there on Sunday. I've got an 8 hour drive back home on Sunday... We'll see what happens friday/sat. If the wind's blowin' i'll be at the beach both days :D

USA_Eli_A - 2-6-2009 at 12:02 PM

pretty fun seeing so many out this past weekend. I was watching from 3,000 ft. msl above.

csa_deadon - 2-6-2009 at 01:52 PM

The always ever present Eli, watching us from above

Want to break out the Neo and Scorp. Chompin at the bit to try them out.
Will be sporting all my body armor. Don't want a repeat of my last trip to sunset beach. Ouch!

USA_Eli_A - 2-6-2009 at 07:08 PM

once I can manage my time a little better, I'll be at the beach nearly daily. My cooler is always full of goodies for kiters.

where's jellis? haven't seen him since he past me in his SS Panel!

arkay - 2-6-2009 at 07:36 PM

I'll be down at the coast late Saturday so I probably won't be able to make it until Sunday :/

USA_Eli_A - 3-6-2009 at 10:44 AM

curious about the neo. looking forward to seeing how it does on sunset

csa_deadon - 3-6-2009 at 11:57 AM

Eli, you are more then welcomed to give it a try.

f0rgiv3n - 8-6-2009 at 08:58 AM

Had a blast at Sunset over the weekend!! It was great to meet Monty, Jim and Eli. I ended up having one session in the rain, got all wet and sandy (good times :D). And had another 3 hour session on Saturday and the sun poked through a few times ;). Man... flying at the coast is AMAZING. First time I was actually able to right toeside (flying blind).

I did end up using the beach as sandpaper... scrubbing sand out of a gash on your arm IS NOT FUN. It's like taking coarse grit sand paper and rubbing against an open wound. LOL. Oh well, made for a cool story and war wound ;) . Too bad it was so rainy, but oh well wind was great at around 18-20mph. Flew the scorpion on the closest knot to the kite(least grunt, most depower) and trimmed in all the way and i could catch as much air as i wanted the entire time :D

USA_Eli_A - 8-6-2009 at 02:58 PM

great to have another member come out. I could see you in the air with your kite from about 3 miles away.

Nice BIG jumps!

If you can plan on September we've got Sobb and Jellis just bought us a new house to party at! Thanks in Advance Jellis! Lets party!

csa_deadon - 8-6-2009 at 05:49 PM

Sounds like I missed out. Was way to tired after the grad night party. At least the kids were safe and had fun.
