13" Tires

garydog - 3-5-2009 at 07:32 PM

Anybody use tires like this for grass fields? The size on my Mongoose seem a little small for the fields I use.

Anybody have a link for some link size wheels and tires.

Thanks Dan

"Low-speed tire mounted on a painted steel wheel"
- doesn't sound too much like an upgrade.

I got and installed these things over my old Blade hubs:
generic tire set on amazon (& found on ebay)

How do those 10 inch wheels work? Are they heavy and slow? What's the main difference in performance between them and your stock wheels.

Also, is the bearing seal good enough to keep out sand at a beach?

I used the old Blade hubs and bearings - I think they will get gritty no matter what.
I think the bigger wheels are heavier and may take a little more to get turning.
I haven't had the weather or chance to really evaluate them yet. Plus, my (used) stock wheels had some slow leaks in them, which was another incentive for a cheap replacement.
The bigger wheels, and the old Blade, clocks in around 25 lbs! It is more for rolling thru tall grass and down rough terrain than quick-start kiting and jumping, that's for sure.
I think I would really like to try a 15 lb board for once (but I'm more preoccupied with my new((used)) buggy now).

I have 12" tyres on my original Mongoose deck
they were instrumental in getting me started
in the old days,
before I found some smalle but well groomed spots
you will probably have to do like I did and
grind away at the 4 spots where the bigger tires will rub the deck.
