What needs improved in the Synergy ?

Bladerunner - 17-5-2009 at 09:16 AM

I am looking forward to the Chargers coming in.

At the same time I am very aware that I haven't got a lot of arc experience to draw from. The Synergy seems like a very similar kite in shape and character. I haven't had the pleasure of flying one yet. Of course I expect a price drop on the Syn. soon ?

Can anyone tell me what I might be looking for as far as improvements from the Synergy ?

I don't think you'll see the Synergy go down in price. It's not being replaced by the Charger and they are two different kites. I think you'd see the synergy go away before they will lower the price all that much.

What do you mean by looking for improvements? Do you mean any mods you can make to the kite? I've never modded my Synergies, they work just fine for me as they are.

I think what he's asking is what is going to be better on the Charger that needed fixing on the Synergy. I'm waffling on the same issue so I'm watching this one. I wonder if a deal on a synergy would serve me just as well or should I wait on the Charger. I'm going to have to save my money either way so it won't matter for a few months unless I run into some cash.

id love to buy the new charger but i have the same thoughts as you bob. ill have to have a good demo on one before i make a decision. it took me a few sessions to love the synergy.

Syns are awesome...........................my 15 turns like my 13m V with the power of my 19m............................but hey Angus Ill demo one for ya.........................:duh::duh:

HIJACK!!!!!! TRI, you're alive! Glad to have you back on board. Your musings punctuated by 30 period spacers have been missed. Truly good to hear from you again.:bigok:

Sorry, back on topic.

Yup ,

B'Bob pretty much sayed it for me !

There is No Doubt I am going to enjoy the Charger . I figured that much out in the little time I had to play with it.

Even if the Synergy's retail price doesn't go down I think the second hand price will , if the Charger proves to be a winner ?

My big problen is lack of experience with the newer arcs to compare.

Rudy' ( or anybody ) can you tell me how the Syn and Charger will be so difeerent ?

ripsessionkites - 18-5-2009 at 09:44 PM

as you wait for your Charger, pick a size in the Syn ... ill get you one to play with.

Charger sizes, same as Synergy, 8m, 10m, 12m, 15m & 19m (and also but limited 6m and 24m)

From what I remember at NABX about the Charger....

More cells, smaller in size each for greater stiffness and shape control.
Fewer intake vents in LE for stiffer shape (less air gets out)
Back to front line safety
3-line configuration with front line "Y"

Not necessarily a replacement for the Synergy, but I'm still not sure how it falls into a different category, as A/R and planform are similar. Maybe as more people ride it we will get more consensus...

carltb - 19-5-2009 at 11:49 AM

i dont think the bar is a 3 line. gunners bar was his own mod i think

the Charger is replacing the Syn. it will be only one twinskin in the lineup that will do all.
~we dont need shades of dark, just one D'Arc side

rudeboysaude - 20-5-2009 at 01:25 PM

When did they decide this? When I interviewed Gunnar and Marijn at NABX they said on the record that it wouldn't. I hope that having only one twinskin means that there is more in store for PL products. Offering only one depowerable kite in their entire line up is tough for those of us who mainly ride water and snow.

ripsessionkites - 20-5-2009 at 06:38 PM

dunno, i dont work for Peter Lynn. Im their Teamrider on the foil side Core / RII / Vapor. I was just relying information that came from them. with talk about a Race Arc for the landside, that could be the second arc. one for water / one for speed. who knows, only time will tell.

the chargers have started production already at the factory same with the Reactor IIs. good news. cant wait. :wee:

Bladerunner - 21-5-2009 at 06:08 PM

I think Rip' has just gotten a 15m Synergy in for me to try !

What I was hoping to hear from Synergy fliers is what they did and didn't like ! What they would like to see changed !

I STILL DO ! :bigok:

tridude - 21-5-2009 at 06:49 PM

Im not a fan of the zero 7 rear line safety...........my son has the zero 7 bar with his 15. Id recommend front line safety for softer landing and restarts. Prefer the middle or one knot forward (towards the leading edge) on the VPC bridle for power turn speed and bar pressure.........................not much neg to say..................awesome kites IMO:lol::lol::duh::duh:

ripsessionkites - 21-5-2009 at 07:12 PM

Guilty has charged. :saint:

whats the difference (if any) from the Zero 7 Bar and say the Twinskin Bar???

Im not a arc guy. i fly them but thats it. :spin:

@ dakitez / screwy ... did you want to demo an Arc?

No difference that I can see besides the name. Seems they did not want to be tied to a model year for naming

I'm not clear what you mean by " softer landings and restarts " ?

rudeboysaude - 22-5-2009 at 07:15 PM

Some people feel the kite flops around more when deployed to the safety on a back line versus the front line and he must feel it's harder to reset as well. I think on the new bar they said they were going back to a front line release.

tridude - 23-5-2009 at 02:25 PM

yep, front line release lands softer, tangles less, and relaunches easier......................................:lol::duh::duh:
