Lack of patience

was almost my downfall today. Have had no wind this past couple of weeks and havent been able to play with the sabre yet, so when i see the trees moving today i was straight on the phone to my friend.

The wind was ok but the gusts were pretty high... but we just had to see this thing in action.

I volunteered to go first, stuck on my pads and full face helmet... y'know, just in case.

I took the kite to zenith, not too much issue, then a gust comes along, lifts me about 3 foot and at this point i thought, for some reason, that sheeting in the bar would be a good idea...

next thing i know i am flying along at serious speed about a foot off the ground for about 40 yards, crash, roll over and end up being dragged accross a green silly quick on my back by a very angry kite.

Thank god for quick release is all i will say... another kitelandboarder down there had a nice chuckle at me, as did my friend who was in stitches. Turns out the gusts were up to 35-40 mph... whoops....

needless to say the kite got packed down very quickly and will not be seeing light until there is more stable wind.

I do feel like i have just taken a silly amount of narcotics though - adrenaline boost or what :wee:

It can be exciting...but...be careful! Glad you got your helmet and pads on. You gotta respect the power of these kites or they'll get ya.

Have fun, be safe and enjoy!!! :) :) :)
