Power Kite Forum

thats it.... im hooked

elfasa - 4-6-2009 at 10:13 AM

so, i went for my first fly today. in a word : awsome.

if you dont know ive got a 3m eolo radsail and some wierd 1.5m 2 line foil that came with it, but i was flying the 3m today.

ill start at the beggining.

i bought the kite off ebay for £45 (uk), which if you had read my other posts i was chuffed with. first thought on opening the kite up on the floor: oh my word.... this is fricking HUGE. (i know its not that big, but its the first power kite ive seen up close, so you know..)

anyway, the afternoon of me getting ther kite i whent down to the beach where i live, about half an hour bike ride.

wind speeds were around 9-12mph, however, im not sure, as i dont have a wind speed computer thing, i just saw that on the met office website.

i wont go into detail about my flight, because i could talk for hours about it. ill say, it was amazing. the kite, from what i can tel being a newbie is very very good. in those wind speeds, my weighing about 14 stone, it was pulling me across the sand 2-4 foot at a time.

i really cant describe how much i enjoyed it. it was amazing. i only stopped when the wind died down. and i was starting to ache by this time, 2-3 hours later.

im properly hooked, and even though ive only been back for a couple of hours, im thinking of when i can next go out.

im not going to post a review of the kite as such because its not a particularly popular kite, and its getting old now. however, i will say this: it is a very very good begginer kite. i enjoyed it no end, and i would deffinately reccomend it to a begginer starting out. especually if you can pick one up on the cheap, like i did. if you have any questions about the kite of anything, do contact me.

ill try and get some pics and/or video asap.

tim

p.s. - on a lighter note, i am sorry to anyone that was planning to go to snettisham beach any time soon. half the contents of the beach is in my shoes, the rest is all mucked up from scudding etc... :P

thanks :)

haha, i have been eyeing up kites/saftey/bugies already.

im guessing it wont be long till im a bit short on cash...

Yea I know the feeling, I can't get this buggy thing out of my head. Done started dreaming about it every night and there's not a decent place to use one round here.

I'm about to spend hard earned money just to sit in one and fly in little fields. Maybe I can go round and round or something.

Then I'll need a few more kites, better safety gear, depower rigs, boards, money for gas to fly at better places. It's gona drive me to drinking,,,,hmmm more!!! No I can't that waste kite money.

I need a shrink

mougl - 4-6-2009 at 02:22 PM

You don't need a shrink Hardrock, none of us do...

What we need is more wind :)

Tim.... that's great! I remember my first day; it was only a matter of weeks ago. I don't think it even matters that it's an old kite or an unpopular kite or a brand new highly recommended kite. What matters to you on your Day 1 is that it is your first day with YOUR kite.... nice :lol:
