2 line kite jumping

Safe Nafe - 24-6-2009 at 05:56 PM

Ok... Found a video on youtube yesterday with a few guys doing some of the best, highest, longest, floatyest jump I have ever seen. But they were on a 2 line 5m kite. I only use 4 line with handles. Is the 2 line safe/easy/hard to fly?

I'm on a mobile right now so ill add the link to this thread when I get to a PC.

I dont think its the kite as much as where they are flying. The wind is coming up the will giving them a more lofty jump.

Talking about two liners, what is this?
Looks like it would eat up gust and be safe doing it. It also looks like some very long lines.

The thing to remember about two liners is their AOA is fixed. Jumping with a two line, or four line as we all know has risks. The problem with two line foils/flexi's/speed foils, is the launch can be extremely violent, more so then with the four line foils. Another thing did you notice the handles they were using? Big soft grips, once you are in the power those are extremely difficult to get out of if you need to. I look back when I was flying for Catch the Wind Kites on their beach crew, and wonder what were we thinkin. Most of the goofy stuff was done with stacks of flexi's. With the two line once committed, you are done.

That is also a mandibule by the looks of it. Those guys set a world record for static jumping with that kite.
