I usually use Paintshop Pro for 'serious' work cos it's what I've used for ages - have done some texture work for game companies :D toot toot goes my
trumpet.
Never used vectors in gimp ... will have a look ...BeamerBob - 28-6-2009 at 06:22 AM

To put things in perspective, the wind that day was very low. That kite I'm flying with Angus and I coming towards Wexler (in pic 1) is a 10.7m PL
Reactor. So that's 2 anti-skunk kites flying. The 18m Phantom flies very much like my 15, but it just needs a little less wind to perform.Kamikuza - 28-6-2009 at 06:24 AM
Anti-skunk ...?BeamerBob - 28-6-2009 at 06:26 AM
Go to fly kites and buggy but you don't get skunked (shut down) by low wind. If you can feel the breeze, it is enough for that 10.8. 4mph was plenty
for the 10.7, and it seemed the 18m Phantom needed about 5 to get you moving and then it is on. With 4-5 mph winds every time I checked, I hit 24 mph
with the big reactor and just over 21 with similar winds with the Phantom. It would come into its zone with another few mph of wind and the reactor
would become too much after about 7 according to Angus.acampbell - 28-6-2009 at 04:24 PM
You can launch the reactor 10.8 in 3-4 and get 4x wind speed. I have seen flags, streamers and wind socks go limp while flying it and still
maintained 10-12 mph.
Tomorrow the Reactor heads back to The Hague. The PL folks are borrowing it to send on an expedition across the Sahara Desert. Swapping Jekyll and
FLA sand for African.
But this is a Phantom Thread. I am really pleased with the 18m Phanny, galloping along like a puppy dog in low winds. Later when winds built to 6-8
with gusts to 9-10, I hit over 27 mph. Sweet easy kite.
Sounds as if PL is leaning towards a production run of the Phantom II.PHREERIDER - 29-6-2009 at 05:47 AM
