whats the best method for getting up and running on a board? start strapped in? get the kite to the zenith and step in? start with the board
perpendicular to the wind or parallel? at an angle?Kamikuza - 27-6-2009 at 05:59 PM
Drew started a thread that has a lot of good tips in ... can't remember what it was called but it's a recent one so should still be near the top dylanj423 - 28-6-2009 at 10:55 AM
kite at zenith.... point slightly downwind to get rolling, then bring kite gently down into the power... when you get rolling, cut back into the
wind... look where you want to go... keep the kite powered up... better to fall backwards than forwards... and wear lots of pads
when you start to feel some speed wobble, put more weight on your rear leg, and try to lay off the kite power...arkay - 28-6-2009 at 08:44 PM
what he said The trick I've found to starting is to realize that the kite will
pull you in its direction, so unlike a buggy that has lots of traction you can't just force the board to start upwind, maybe someone better than I
can do this So, similar to a water stat you need to point the board down wind a
bit to get moving then you can steer up wind. You'll need to experiment a bit to lean what a little bit down wind really means! Once you get
going... you'll probably want to stop. I've found the easiest way to do this is to just drive way upwind and raise the kite. You can also send the
kite in the opposite direction or slide, but those are less gentle.
The "progression" series of DVD also has a new landboard DVD, haven't seen it but I imagine it's pretty good.
Enjoy experimenting!Drewculous - 29-6-2009 at 09:16 AM

Another good DVD is the Power Kiting How-To Guide. It covers basics to advanced moves. Also has instruction on buggies, buggy bikes and inline
boarding as well as Landboarding. Start slow. Practice jumping straight back off your board before you start. Make sure your bindings aren't too
loose or tight. If you have to bail you don't want be anchored to a board that will compound problems with your recovery. You questioned about
starting strapped in meaning having your feet in the board bindings or using a harness? Not recommended to use a waist or seat harness until you are
comfortable riding unhooked (no harness, arms only). Becoming familiar with your kite cannot be over emphasized. Good luck!
