Cape Hatteras National Seashore

This is one reason why we have bans on where we can and can not do stuff in this world. I just hope this does not get kitting banned here in NC on this strip of beach. One of the best buggy spots in this state is in this strip.

MANTEO, N.C. - The National Park Service has expanded two closed areas on North Carolina beaches because of vandalism to signs and fences that protect nesting areas for endangered birds.

Both incidents are under investigation. They were discovered Saturday on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore at beach access Ramps 23 and 27.

At Ramp 23, a barricade was broken and fencing and signs were torn down. At Ramp 27 a vehicle drove through the fencing and entered two protected areas.

The park said neither incident resulted damage to nests or chicks.

Beach closures are required by a settlement between the park service and environmental groups that sued over protection of endangered species. The agreement requires that closed areas be enlarged in the case of vandalism.

But obviously it's not US doing that!

Here's a great example of how retarded this kind of knee jerk reaction is ...
Friend here likes to use the University tennis court at 5:30am every morning. The courts are only for the students (none of whom are up at 5:30am ) but the gates are never locked, there's no fee or booking system, no little gaurd man.
However, due to recent vandalism, there is now a sign stating that "Due to recent vandalism, the courts are only to be used between 8am and 7pm" ... nothing else has changed though, still no locks etc.
Friend, like us who are so visible with our massive kites in the skies, have to follow this rule so as to maintain respectability - him, for his business and us for our sport.

The brain-dead pukes who vandalized both these locations will completely ignore the signs and rules and continue to do so - it's the honest, law-abiding people who are being punished!!!

Yep. But because the fools used a vehicle I can now see them banning anything with wheels from the beach now. This is a strip of beach that you can actually drive your car out on unless the area closed signs are posted as they were in this case. But that is what you get when this equasion:

Beer + 3am x truck load of rednecks = No Fun For Anyone Else.

Just have to wait and see what happens.
