kites are foreign around here

So im out on the water last night and decided around 9:00pm it was time to give it up and pack up my gear for the day, I get back to the beach and begin setting out my lines to wind them up when a guy on a ATV nearly runs over my kite and then my lines.

He stops next to me, and I say "thanks for not running over my lines". He says "Sorry man, but we dont see many guys jumping out of planes around here." :wow: hahahaha

hijack for the same type comments about the buggy.

What IS that?
Does it have a motor?
Do you just roll down to the water and pull it back?
Does it have some sort of spring that makes it go?

You just can't make this stuff up.

Hey Sailors,
My favorite?

After being asked who knows how many times:
"Is That Fun?"

I finally came up with the right answer:
"No. I've been bad and this is my punishment!"

You know when you've won the game if they ask: "Really?"

stoopid should hurt.

One of my favorites is when a passerby point to the ground stake sticking out of the tubing strapped to the front fork and s asks "What's that?" to which I respond, "Oh, that's the gearshift"... and they usually buy it.

When in traffic at a stop light with the kitemobile in tow and the buggy on the rack on top, I can see the couple in the car behind me speaking in an animated fashion and gesticulating at the buggy, probably arguing what kind of lawn mower it is. So I put signage on the back...
(one inch letters... "NO DEAR.. IT'S A KITE BUGGY")

When asked the same question also numerous times my reply:

I live life to the fullest and if that day shall come while getting in some buggy time… it will take the undertaker a WEEK to get that silly grin off my face.

The most fun is when they have this puzzled look about them and you KNOW what they are about to ask. I let them try to figure it out.

This one happened just now. I got my headphones on so I am oblivious to sound. I see a family of 4 walking up the path so I ride upwind a little and away to other side of field . Turn around now I am heading back towards them and they are right at my kites lenth standing on the feild so I am like wooo let me be careful and not dip the kite too low. I realize for a moment there is only 3 people down wind. Then I look over and its too late dad is in my path trying to get my attention cause he thinks its cool what I am doing. COLLISION! Wasn't going fast kinda like a hockey check. He was cool about it. Last thing I want is to be kicked off the field. Ugh pedestrians lol:dunno:

I was out flying yesterday and a lady and her 4 year old boy came up and the lady asked where or if there was a motor.
She told me that before they came over...her son told her it was powered by the kite and she insisted there was a motor.
Just goes to show that sometimes a 4 year old can be smarter than an adult:D

Jokes on me this time ... kinda kite related ...
I was driving down to my park to fly and holy heck dude it's a biplane! Wow awesome cool excellent wow it's coming in to land ... I wonder where it'll land, there's only PPG strips around here ... and as it dipped below the tree line I realize I'd been faked out by a 1/10th scale RC model  it was gorgeous though, real work of art - and against the sky I just couldn't tell :)

Hijack but same direction- When asked countless times about my sleeve tattoos- "Did that hurt?" to which I usually respond "Only when I pee." Holy confused look.:puzzled: My fave kite related though is the ever ego boosting "He built that himself?" re. my buggy. Or whilst unpacking "THAT"S a kite? Will it pick you up?" My medical report from last winter says yes.

My favorite is:

A reporter comes up, after seeing this guy kitebuggying, and asks "so how fast do you have to get going to get the kite off the ground?"

I've also had one rather insistent woman telling her children their HAD to be a motor on my buggy. Her proof? She saw me travelling against the wind which according to her was "impossible" using just the kite
