Donating power kites to group that work with adhd - thoughts?
I'm donating some trainer kites to groups that oversee kids with ADHD. The idea is to help improve hand-eye coordination and hopefully learning. It
will be supervised by kite instructors for everyone's safety.
I got the idea from my grandfather who used to have an optometry practice that worked with kids on improving hand-eye coordination. I saw it help alot
with school, sports, socially, etc. Since I'm into kitesurfing, I thought kites may have a similar benefit.
It's just a trial. I have no idea if it will work. Just wondering what you guys thought of the idea - good, bad or indifferent?

It would at least get them outside and away from that other supposed hand/eye alternative - video games.

I have A.D.D and dealing with lines has helped me become more organised with a much greater attan to detail, you only get in a hurry and just stuff
your quad lines in a bag once :flaming:.
I can't tell if kiting has helped my hand/eye, it probably has.
I think what you are doing is great tho.:D

I'm not sure about the hand eye part of the thing but I have to think it's a good idea. When you are kiting you HAVE to stop thinking about all the
other junk in your life. You are forced to focus but the reward is fun! That AOXOMOXOA has got to be good for some of them ?

exactly ^^ good points all.
My thought is people with ADHD are overachievers but just not given an effective enough reason to stay focused and accomplish goals. A kite slamming
into the ground IS an effective reason - I hope. For Michael Phelps, he found swimming, but I think flying a trainer kite could be an even better
gauge of concentration.
Thanks again, if you know some of these groups that work with ADHD, let me know.
