Thanks Claxton. Here's the directions to Walt's cove at El Mirage:

Take 395 North out of Adelanto, then left on El Mirage Rd. Turn right onto the newly paved Mountain View Rd then onto the lakebed. Drive down the middle of the lakebed for the smoothest ride and look for camp on the right side of the lakebed.
N 34*39.134', W 117*36,505'

Edit note: See Corey's route correction in the post below.

We will not be camping at Walt's. Gina and i are scouting locations for our camp on weds, but we will not be able to camp on the lake bed. The lake bed is closed to everyone but US! We can ride ride ride, just not camp!

A bit of a correction:

El Mirage Rd does not intersect with #395
(Unless road construction has occurred)

The intersection on #395 is Chamberlain Way.
There's a light there. Head west.
A couple of miles to Koala Rd.
Turn right on Koala.
About a mile and the road turns 90 degrees to the left and becomes El Mirage Rd.
About 6-7 miles, atop a low ridge, to the turn off on Mntn. View Rd.

From the highway, it's a couple miles to the end of the fence and the left turn that leads you down onto the lake bed.

Resume previous directions from this point.

I am often wrong, but never in doubt.

Safen Up! Buggy On!

Actually it does but that section of El Mirage Rd is dirt with one hellacious low water dip about halfway down it (been there, glad I had new shocks). :tumble:

Anyway, use Corey's directions... much better roads. Thanks.

RGBCAT -

I worked on a movie on a private dry lake bed near Barstow next to a cement plant I believe the whole area was private property. Does any one know the name and contact info of the land owner ?

Thanks,
