Jumping on depower kite 1 handed
Ok so i pretty much got it down.....jumping with my ATB. Now Today the winds were 14mph clean winds. so decided to practice a little more with
riding toeside and switching between toeside and heelside whilst humming across the grass. and eventually jumping while riding toeside. I don't trust
myself just yet
Any ways Just looking for some pointers on jumping with one hand so i can eventually go for the board and grab it. I tried it a bunch of times and it
seems the bar is too hard to hold powered up with 1 hand......I set up for jump and jump and right away i move my left hand to center and let go of
bar with right hand, i cant' hold down the bar in powered up poistion with 1 hand. Am i just a weakling? lol

quick answer.......................... yes!!
can you not adjust the bar settings so that theres less bar pressure?
oh yea, you dont have to jump one handed to do a grab. both hands in the centre of the bar, pull the bar in then take off the hand that you are going
to do the grab with.
also hit hte gym!!!!

Was your hand at the middle of the bar ?
I know you can adjust the bar tension at the kite with my Arcs and Flysurfer. I think that is what Carl is refering to. I don't think that you can do
that with HQ ????
Save the Gym money and put it toward an Arc !:singing:

kite needs to be well powered and stable , i prefer the bar trimmed solid more like a lei c-kite (not much depower)
split grip helps , close in as possible to the main.
stable balancing grip when is power on
one handed grip hangs helps tremdously
i started reaching and tapping the deck at first then went to pauses and grabs . on the water chop and little waves are very helpful. goes right
along with switching . it is the same moment of suspension in the feel. deeper hip flexibility helps here. on the land being well powered makes
balancing easier because the kite is more above you rather than out on a swing which is harder. kite position and decent power made it easier for
me to feel confident. the hand strength has to be there ...period.

Thanks for the Advice guys. Phreerider I will def work on one handed grip hangs first to get myself use to that feeling. and try what you said about
reaching for the board and so on. Thanks.
I did notice a very bad habit i am doing, I never noticed until today when i was trying to get higher jumps in 18mph winds. I rely too much on my
arms and the bar and am not letting the harness do it's job. I am holding on to the bar likes it the only thing keeping us together when i jump.
Sooooo a couple jumps later and i am getting better at leaning back a little and let the harness do it's job . Always learning. Makes its so much more fun.

Carl's
yeah the Montana 3 doesn't have settings for the bar tension. I realized after thats what Carltb meant.
