Ivanpah Update

Buggy-Brethren:

I drove the loop again on Saturday (the 19th) and Eldorado is still showing a thin layer of water.
Jean is completely dry and even Roach no longer has any water on it, although it is still a dark brown out in the middle.
Ivanpah was full of landsailers on Saturday and Sunday.
A bit of water remains in the evap pond and to the south, but the main part of the lake bed is fine.

I watched storm clouds, on Saturday, race across the desert valley, dropping their moisture on the mountains.
The lake bed remained completely dry.

I went there to buggy yesterday.
The landsailers are there in force, but still plenty of room for the Blokart guys (they seem to stay seperate) and this lonely buggier.

A system is due in Tuesday evening, but is considered minor.
The more serious threat is due onshore around Thursday.
Scattered showers across the high desert.
Of course, this also means we'll have wind.

It will be exciting.

I am often wrong, but never in doubt.

Safen Up! Buggy On!

Here it is Wednesday 23 March
Last night it rained.

I know... I know...

But the high desert is a wonderous place.
Driving across Ivanpah today (on the freeway) revealed a scad of landsailers out there having the time of their lives.

Tons of wind too.

The surface looks like it never saw a drop.

What had been forecast as another system coming onshore Thursday is being downgraded to "scattered showers" in the region.

Bright SUNSHINE and temps approaching the 80's for the weekend.

And Next Week?

I do believe it's getting better...
A little better all the time...

Any place else you'd rather be?

I am often wrong, but never in doubt.
