I had a fantastic evening landboarding last night! So good I though I should share! I recently upgraded my flying spot from two soccer fields to five - space makes such a huge difference. My wind meter said 9-21 mph (who knows what it was doing up at kite level), so it was pretty gusty which made things a little interesting - I don't fly hooked in in those kind of winds especially with a fixed bridle - way out of my comfort zone!

I stayed upwind and was actually able to ride back to my bag when I was done. I only bowtied once while I was waiting for some pedestrians to pass - a bad gust hit and shot the kite WAY over the zenith. I beat my previous top speed - 19.5 mph (I know not really fast, but I'm getting there!) and I am finally hitting my heelside to toeside transitions (toeside to heelside is another story). They were well powered turns. I think a little more space and speed made all the difference - that aside, riding toeside is pretty sweet!

Had to pack up after 2 hrs - the stomach was grumbling for dinner and the masses of soccer players were staring to take up the five fields I had all to myself.

Progression is good!

My brother and I got skunked.
Our normal spot was about 1/2 full of footballers/soccer and rugby players.
No Biggie the other 1/2 was still wide open.
You can divide the entire area into four or five sections that are each large enough for buggying fun. By the time we got set up and stuff a few more teams showed up for practices and there was pretty much nothing left for traction/buggies. Would have been fine for stunt kites or static flying.
All the teams left just before sundown but thats when the 3.4 million mosquitos came out to play.
Win some lose some. Happened once or twice last year too.

Thanks for the update and session report!! Sounds like the same wind I had the last couple of days coming from the north. Had a 31mph gust hit and it was like turbo charge had kicked in and I was already doing a very fast run. Don't know if it was sweat or what that caused my shorts to be wet.:tumble:
