Wind watching...

I know I've seen lots of links sprinkled throughout the board for websites that give wind information. I'm curious as to which ones people prefer (and getting a listing in one place). So, what website do you use for wind forecasts?

Personally, I spend most of my time using http://wunderground.com, though their forecasts are often low.

I like metcheck and windguru. A local kite shop forum has links to plenty of weather site. http://www.kiteboomerangjugglingshop.co.uk/forum/forum_posts...

I spend most of my time on the NOAA page, along with wundeground, and ikitesurf.com. I generally compare all three to see what they are saying. The actual weather is normally somewhere in the middle...

Intellicast here. They're usually pretty accurate with their forecasts, at least for my area.

Planning to share it? It might be useful to someone else at some point... Or is it very local, like town specific?

I use both www.windmapper.com and www.weatbher.com

i usually take an average of what the 2 sites are telling me and its fairly close to actual.

I assume that was a mistype and it should be www.weather.com ?

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Grand+Fork...

thats a good one, it only takes a glace and I get all the winds for the next few days. I guess you could put in your city and state and get the same info where ever you are.

another vote for a mix of local and international sites, hk gov weather and windguru for local HK winds. It's crazy how different they are sometimes. sites like windguru i think often don't take local considerations into account, local sites do a better job of local quirks.

also in summer i often have to fly between rainstorms, by tracking them on the local weather radar (256 km range) i can often find rain-free windows a couple hours long on days otherwise too wet to be flyable.

fixed bridles, flying static, been two years now... ??? folks must be wondering....

sting 1.7, dp power 2.5, crossfire 3.2, ace 5, blade iv 6.5, ace 8, ace 12...

also a couple of arcs, 12 syn and 12 phanny, but i\'m not yet up to speed on them.

wunderground, windmapper, weather.com, and i get local forcasting from our local boys

i think it absolutely ignorant to charge people on ikitesurf a monthly fee to read their stations. They need to get over their selfs.

www.sailflow.com has four models on one site. It gives the model data for two points 5 miles from where we fly in Vancouver. Only really very good on the coasts and the Great Lakes.

ikitesurf has a meter less than 60 feet from where I launch, but they charge WAY too much to view one meter if they had a plan for about 20 a year I would be happy to pay but the amount they charge is astronomical. So I use the Coast Gaurd station thats about 2 miles south of my spot.

what kitejumper said. If there is a puff of wind the NPW will launch, then if I have to run 'til I :megan:, then the tricks I get to do are usually worth it!
