El Mirage Dry Lake

Well I've recently driven over to El Mirage to have a look at the old place and it's certainly changed, well at the entrance anyway!

That new building on the entry road with all the fencing kind of spoils it a bit, but that's progress I suppose!

Granted the last time I was there was in 1998.....Sh*t that's 11 yrs ago!

The other huge change was the drive out there from Adelento. The amount of housing that has been built along the road that was previously scrub land is amazing/terrible I'm not sure what to think really?

I suppose the introduction of a usage fee was bound to happen as it seems the things that are free in this life are fast dwindling away!!!

No I did not have any buggy kit with me as I'm on holiday with my wife...so no other explaination is necessary!!!

But I plan to be back next year or 2011 for a Boogie Buggy Thang.

Wishing all my US buggy friends a big hello and don't take your great buggy spaces for granted.
You have amazing spaces compared to the UK!:wee:

El Mirage BLM Brochure

{Talk about thread necromancy.} I've been looking for an electronic version of a BLM brochure that I received on a previous trip to El Mirage but have not been able to locate it on line.
I've gone ahead and scanned it and I'm posting a link to it here in case any new visitors to El Mirage want to know what to expect.

If anyone has a link to an agency hosted version let me know and I will remove this.

BTW during my search for this brochure I came across this document from 1990 that tells the story of how El Mirage got to where it is today.
