Long throw bar on arcs ?

I'm confused.
All along I have thought that 370mm was the proper length for throw on a twin skin. Less you lose out, more you stall out ?

Now I am hearing that people prefer a long throw bar on arcs. Who has tried this ?

What is best ?

Does long throw only work with extensions ? :puzzled:

I tweaked mine for a longer throw and it gave me more depower in higher winds. It also helps to keep your kite from stalling out in lower wind. The most important part is that I feel safer in higher winds which have helped me progress quicker. I haven't added any extensions so I can't really comment on that.

the way i see it is, if you add a long throw to your bar you need to add rear line extensions to compensate, as you have to fly with your bar pulled in (unless you also have arm extensions!!!!)

so if you already fly with the bar 1/3 in then with the extensions you will fly with your bar 1/2 way in. this give you the advantage of an extra 1/4 length of depower. on the water i tend to depower the kite and fly it with the bar 1/2 to 2/3 way in anyway which give you the same effect.

This is what I was expecting to hear. Thanks for confirming that.

I suppose a big part of my thinking is that when I go to a Navigator bar , will it work on other arcs or will I NEED extensions. Or .... will I want to keep an 07 bar ? What are your thoughts ?

370mm is 14.56 inches... i have heard over and over that you want 15 inches of throw for an arc...

better get you some .44 inch extensions, and i mean quick!!!

:P

i fly my phantom and venom ii on a pl 07 bar, and its fine, i dont think i will get as much out of extensions as the effort and tweaking and adjusting of riding style, and all that stuff,

but i am no pro, either

Mood: They're ALL good ideas. Right up until they become BAD ideas.

I think I'm missing something here - are you all referring to some sort of pulleyed bar or something? I don't think my gear has any mods done to it and I find I can barely reach the bar when it's all the way out......any longer throw on it and I'd need not only longer arms but maybe some sort of thigh harness?
