Mood: Stoked for JIBE!!!

looks like im grounded

Had an EPIC session Wednesday, with the exception of a nice foot injury. Redirect, redirect, redirect, redirect, redirect! I have no idea why I didn't redirect. (Guess I had a brain fart) Came down HARD on my right heel. Walked it off, seemed ok at the time. Kept jumping for about 4 more hours (got some sweeeeet ones too!) get home, try to get out of my car and I can't walk. "Screw it, just bruised it, I'll be fine" Iced it down, went to bed. Got up this morning and it felt a *little* better but went to the doc just to be sure. Ever so slight tear in the achilles tendon and turns out I have one giant spur on my heel. Looks like I'm gounded for a good while. The upside to this is:

Time to save for the bug and some sweet speedy kites!

P.S. Redirect, redirect, redirect, redirect, redirect!

I hope I'm not kicking a brother when he is down but your backstarp has sort of scared me all along.

I have never used one but think that if it was a good idea it would have become more popular?

How wil you use it on a board or buggy ?

How do you get in and out of it ? What do you do when it all hits the fan for a quick release ?

I dont always fly with it, but I was Wednesday. When I get a bug, I plan on having depower or flying a strop. Getting out when all hits the fan isnt that hard really. Just kinda superman and it slides up my back and off, then the kks do their job. The strap has never hindered me in any way, just kinda makes me able to fly a bit longer. (a lot less strain on the arms) It looks like I won't have to worry about the strap much longer though, I'm going depower asap! hehe :spin:

Backstrap? Step into it like you're putting on a huge pair of undies, once the kite is in the air. Lean forwards, tuck your head down into your shoulders and it'll get pulled over your head, the kite going to KKs ... hopefully ;)
I have one but don't use it much cos I simply don't have the area to park the kite and ride ... by the time I'm rolling, I almost immediately need to start thinking about turning round :(

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

mougl, i did the exact same thing like my 3rd week flying... landed hard on my left heel... turned a pretty shade of purple for about two weeks... i dont know if it was that a failed at any particular step or what, but to this day, i have never got a jump as epic as that day i busted my heel... i couldnt even walk it off... i just layed in the field for a good 30 mins before i could move... it sucks for sure, get better soon!

FWIW: I now always wear insoles with Sorbothane (the original "Impact Gel") and will sometimes use ankle wraps. I will probably soon add knee wraps under the usual padding.

With a few more years and added armor, I will probably look more at home at a Ren Fest than a Kite Fest! :ticking:

Heal up quick man, ive had a few problems with lofts in gusty winds recently, landing on my feet ok but then not letting the kite fall out of the sky and using my knees to cusion the fall, i got the knee pads out of the garage lol, its actually quite difficult to redirect after youve been lofted, either im not prepared or the kites swooping to low for me to have the arm power for it.
