Vimeo slow go

I notice that a lot of power kite vid's are hosted through Vimeo. I find that on the Vimeo platform vids are really slow to load and then when they finally do the sound is jerky and the picture often stalls. Something I'm doing worng, maybe? I even registered with the site thinking that maybe if I logged in the downloads would be smoother... but no such luck.

I have the same problem, but I'm only on 1Mb dsl so I have been blaming it on that. I just pause the vid and go do something else for about five min and let it download completely. That usually works but not always.

Registration makes no difference.

You might have to update some of your flash/shockwave/whatever browser software - unless your computer hardware itself is rather old.

It takes awhile for my so-so DSL connection to download vimeo vids. But when I play the HD ones full screen on my 3 yr old laptop, the results are usually quite excellent!

Todd's HD "Binary Lies" was the first HD one I loaded and it was an eye-opener!

try turing off the hd feature. right in the picture it says "hd is on" clik that and it may run a
little smoother...

I'm in hong kong on a 10mb/s connection, about as fast as any household connection is, and vimeo occasionally stalls out even so.

but yes pausing the vid and letting it load a bit is the way to go.

Odd, I really haven't had any issues with loading vimeo videos. Once in a while I find one that I have to let preload, but it's quite rare.

Finally someone brought this up. I have never had good luck with vimeo even if I turn HD off, let the whole video load, play it once, and then play it again! The quality is still terrible. I think everyone should post on youtube. Works everytime.

Yes, I was curious as to why vimeo seemed to be favoured by PKF users rather than youtube.

I do get the jerkiness sometimes that everyone is mentioning, but I do like that Vimeo provides a download link for the files (as long as you're logged in). Far as I know you can't download vids straight from YouTube, unless you have special software to rip the flash video from the site. If it's a vid I really want, I just download it from Vimeo and no more problems.

I enjoy Vimeo for several reasons and have never had a problem with it. I can upload my HD vids so my friends can download and save them on their hard drive. I enjoy watching other artistic videos which in turn encourages me to produce better video. Theres a whole new bag of tricks ready to unfold with our videos.

Biggest reason is that its for footage that you have shot yourself.. no commercial stuff.

The main reason I use Vimeo over YT is the music.
On Vimeo...they allow you to put any music to your video but YT doesn't.

I get that - a good reason to be sure!
