PL ARC spars from Coastal Wind Sports

Let me state up front that while I am a shop rider for Coastal Wind Sports, my review here is objective and unsolicited.

I just got my first of two sets of Coastal Wind Sports Compact Spars for Peter Lynn ARCs. I'll let you read the CWS web page about the dimensions and materials used if you are interested but here I'll just stick to the difference they will make for you and your arcs. These look similar to the factory aluminum rods that you would receive from Peter Lynn except the color is a dark grey/black finish that looks to be anodized in the same manner as the factory spars. They are shock corded with ferrule inserts just like OEM spars. The big difference is the shouldered aluminum end caps. Worst case scenario, you crash your arc nose first, driving the factory aluminum spars through the vinyl end cap. That would be an inconvenience, but then with enough force, (I've seen it happen) the aluminum spar can drive through the spar pocket on the kite which would mess up your session and require some level of kite repair. The CWS spars virtually eliminate this threat with the end caps. They would spread the pressure of the spar across the entire diameter of the stick instead of the now exposed sharp edge of the factory stick slicing through your spar pocket. If you need new or spare sticks for your arc, save your kite, some hassle, and a potential repair on your kite with these sticks that are custom made for your model/size arc. Oh, and they are less money and ship faster than factory replacement sticks. Take a look here.

Are those prices on CWS for a pair of sticks or for individual sticks?

Oh, and does anyone know the stick lengths on a Phantom 15m off the top of their head?

I believe they're for a pair of sticks. And the length for 15m Phantom sticks is 129 cm. Stick lengths for almost all arcs are hidden away on peterlynnproducts.com

Yes, price is per pair. For stick length go to peterlynnproducts.com then click on products/accessories. Then in the middle of the page click on "Other Accessories" Then choose "kite Accessories" I found it once and when I went back out to figure how I got there, I couldn't get back. Finally got there the second time and threw out breadcrumbs as I went.

With my pending move to East of the Bay Area, I've been picking out places that looked great for the buggy. One such place looked perfect but alas, is off limits due to the plovers. They are apparently more important than some other members of fauna.

Thanks. That is a great site indeed but I find that their stick lengths can differ from the PL site by a CM or two. That won't wreck a kite and maybe the PL site is wrong, but I prefer to use them as a reference.

The problem with the PL site is that it is all JavaScript so that you cannot cut and paste and publish a URL for any sub-page; very inconvenient.

I was wondering where those bread crumbs came from.

FWIW, my sticks will measure maybe 1/2 cm longer tip-to-tip than the stock specification. I account for the fact that my rounded tips will elongate the pocket a tiny bit.

Per the PL site, Venom users have to remember to take the little cup out of the spar pockets when replacing the spars with aluminum versions.
