Charlotte, NC area riders?

Is anybody from around the Charlotte, NC area? I know a bunch kite at the beach in NC so I'm sure at least a few live in Charlotte. Anyway I was wondering if you wanted to meet up and maybe show this newbie a thing or two.

Hi Wannabe and welcome to the forum. You have come to the right site for information and guidance on getting started and all things kiting.
I am not aware of anyone in the CLT area. The is however, a loose affiliation in the Carolinas and Georgia known as "SoFKA" ( Southern Flied Kite Assc ).
A couple from Hickory, NC, north Georgia, Augusta, and Jekyll Island, Georgia, Charleston, Hilton Head, Aiken, and Florence SC.
We meet up as often as we can in various locations throughout the tri-state area. Lately, Sullivan's Island and Folly Beach have been the go-to places. Always a good time with a lot of kites to try and expertise to share.
Tell us a bit about yourself. Any kiting experience? What type of kiting are you interested in?
If you are able to make a trip to Florence (2 - 2 1/2 hrs) I would be happy to help get you started.

Well I'm 17 and I got my first kite, a 5m pansh ace, a week or two ago. Took it out 4 or 5 times so far and it's been crazy fun.
I want to eventually get into kite landboarding but I haven't the budget or skill yet to afford that. I was just looking to see if there was anybody nearby that could fly with me so I could decide if landboard is really for me.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to drive the 2 1/2 hrs but I'll see what I can do

I guess I'm one of those "bunch who fly at the beach". ;) Did any of you make it to the kite fest here at Atlantic Beach the other weekend?
