Made it down to East Beach around 8am Sunday.
Parked where DBBB was last year. Winds 8 to 12 mph, SE. sunny
Tide was out..Not to many people on the beach.
Great runs from the south jetty all the way to the first rock groin
at Stewart's Beach. Kite would do it's lull thing in front of the twin towers, best to get the speed up to get through that area quickly.
The cyclone fencing where they were dredging is gone . It appears that the passing of Ida the week before had some higher
tides that still had a lot of the flat area back away from the beach front , still holding water. Logged 25 miles with jojo 5 and 4 meter.
Packed up at 10:30 and headed to the Pass. The whole pass was hard packed all the way to the dunes. Park anywhere and no problem with burrow tires.
Fast runs to the water tower and back. Made one run 10 mile down 10 miles back. I believe that was an endurance record for me. Winds still SE 10 to 12
mph gusts to 15..jojo 5 meter got it done. did not see any other buggier s . As the day wore on and the sun started to dry out the sand a little , it
was still nice and hard packed .
Logged 32 miles.top speed 30.1 mph.
Had read on the PKF post the night before that Houston Airhead and others would be at Surfside . Packed up and around 3:30 and headed that way.
Got to meet a few of the guys down there. H airhead was there
land boarding with a 12 meter LEI. Got the buggy out with jojo 4 meter, logged a few more miles. Let the guys down there about DBBB , dates ,location,
etc...
If conditions hold till the week end , I think there will be a great
playa for all . If the winds are right Friday, i will take a vacation day and head down. until then.. Herb
