anyone in norcal want to fly 11/28
I have a wife and kid free day. Anyone available to fly? I haven't had a kite out in so long I probably lost the sad skills I had. I'm down to fly the
beaches, sod farm, whatever. I will go where ever the wind is that day. I'm hoping flexiblade will help me out with the wind watch :saint:
Anyone want to fly? I hate to go alone, but I got to do what I got to do.

I don't need a calendar date - I need wind. Hey I'm always up for something - this year has been nothing but a burn though. I would love to make it
down to Moss Landing again - camping is a must for a good 2 to 3 day event. Tides are critical so either middle or beginning/end of the month will
be right - match that with some wind and we're in business - only problem is that any wind this time of year is either going to be really bumpy or
bringing his buddy rain. I don't want to be a downer (as a few of my last posts have been) but as can be attested to by any of the Nor-Cal crew -
this year has been just about awful. Here's to a serious change blowing in the wind.

I hear ya ... the winds have been lousy. That is why I have the itch sooooo bad. Moss Landing would be ultimate. I just checked the tides and they
look good .... now the wind?? thats your department.
I see a 0.4 tide at 2pm on sat and -0.3 at 3pm on sunday and -0.8 on monday ... that would be epic

dude I was on salmon creek beach over last weekend...that was a great spot ...possibly good for buggys
http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/image.cgi?image=1...
I flew the ace 5.0 it was so RAD..I was being dragged all over the beach with hooj scuds and I was getting lofted everywhere ... 60 foot jumps...in 4
mph wind.
couldn't believe it...a beach facing due west and barely a bee fart...well at least there was enough wind to knock over my girlfriend and our other
friend ..still good fun
its only two and a half hrs..but I am broke as a joke after camping there for three days
I will definitely go out locally ...sh!# I don't care if I have to sneak on to the chp training grounds........

Bodega bay, hmmm, seems like it would would be about the same drive time as Moss Landing once you add in all the twists and turns on the highways. The
link you added in looked great - I did some research and this last weekend would have put low tides Sat. 4:30pm Sun. 5:45pm. Question is how did
those low tides look compared to the photographs included in your link?
Weather report for the weekend of 11/28 - 11/29 - sucky winds and possibly raining. Cross your fingers for a change.

Guys I am in Tracy for this week taking care of pre move issues and the flags have been standing proud here since I got here. I don't know if it is a
fluke, but if Dakitez is right that the wind blows all the time here, we need to find a place that we can play here in the delta/central valley.
Anyone ever work anything out around here? I see farm fields and commercial lots for sale that are buggyable in their current condition. I just
don't want one of Arnold's black helicopters swooping down on me with a SWAT team because of my blatant trespassing. I don't know where to start but
intend to figure out a local place to play.

Guys look what I found today.
http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=q8pp094wbpr1&scene=...
This is a soccer field complex that is very smooth with closely mowed grass. I talked to the parks department because a sign says you need a permit to
use the field. Floyd told me a permit is not required for kite flying. He said to just avoid flying when it would interfere with other activities,
and I said I would've done that in any case. Maybe I can try it out before the holidays, but chances are slim. I do have a window after getting here
before the movers arrive with our stuff. We'll see how it works out.

Looks good - I'm curious to what kind of wind that area of the bay gets - should be good - your right around the corner from Dakitez and his sod farm
- the wind is usually clean in the valley. I have a feeling if you go flying at that park you will be the only person to have ever flown a power kite
there - not many of us around. Good luck avoiding the soccer players.

I'm down for mon-wed this next week, if your around BB and can check out that location and need someone to ride shotgun, let me know and I'll be
there... I'll get you my info by U2U... Tracy is always windy but I've had a hard time trying to find good probable spots... and being that I don't
live there I don't get around there too much, my bro-n-law lives out there and I'm doing tnx-givn there on thurs... so if it works out let me know BB
and I'll come out and play!!! sorry cant make it anywhere this weekend, got work till 6am mon morning...
I bet the sod farm would be good this week also...
I know those fields and they seem occupied by the soccer groups all the times I've been past them and there a few fields west of it that are almost
always busy with softball games but those are the best looking fields that Ive seen in Tracy...

Well Moss Landing looks like a bust - but I did see a blip on the radar for Davis for Saturday (looks like 12 to 16mph hard to tell 4 days out) -
don't know if there was ever any headway made towards the sod farm but there are the Alfalfa field (which was reported to be in good condition) and
the Soaring society as a last resort.

Guys I'm not there till the 18th-19th of Dec. I was there for 4 days last week but I'm back east now. I love all these options that seem to be in
play. That soccer field is only a few miles from my new house so I could shoot up there in the afternoon after work and before school is out for some
solitude.

It seems Bob that you have transplanted yourself to a windy little epicenter surrounded by good options, lucky you didn't move up the hill - there's
nothing up here for locations or wind for that matter.
Davis is starting to build steam for Saturday and Part of Sunday. Keep your eyes peeled.
Could someone throw up a definitive description of the alfalfa field - I haven't personally been there in 6 months. The Soaring Society, as Art can
attest to, is a location for the truly desperate - full of holes from burrowing owls and chipmunks - but ridable after all else has failed.

You guys get ready. I hope to use our close proximity to each other and the many great places to fly to really step up the local scene there. I'm
also perfectly happy to have a field all to myself if no on else can make it. As a longtime waterskier, I used to drive down the road looking for
bodies of water or even valleys that could be developed into a skiing private lake. Now, due mainly to accessibility, I look for flat mowed fields
with a good wind signature. I had to pop my eyes back in when Dakitez pointed out all the windmills on the hills surrounding my new hometown. They
don't just plop those down unless the wind blows pretty much all the time. Side note: Why do many of them not turn even when the wind is blowing? Was
there funding to build them but no funds to keep them operable? Surely they at least generate enough to keep them operable.

Winds are holding for Saturday - but we have a toss up - Lodi has picked up a good bit of wind coming in from the NNW as is the same for Davis. How
are the sod farms in Lodi doing? Would it be a problem with a NNW wind for field alignment?
Hey art, I looked up on Google earth the coordinates you posted, what are the field conditions? How about access? Thanks for the scouting.
Sunday is looking good for Davis only for now but could change.
