NASA Wings

So what's the story on NASA wings? I saw several people using them at NABX but never had a chance to try one.

I'm heading to the beach in a month, and I'm curious if one would be more effective on a medium crowded beach. (on short lines) But I've never flown one. How well to they work on the edge of the wind going upwind?

I was at the same beach last year, it's on an island in N. Carolina, and is not a public beach, so it isn't too horribly crowded, and people tend to stay in clumps, so you have 50 ft. of clear beach, park kite overhead as your coast by people, 50 ft. of clear beach, etc. that's way I'm thinking something with real short lines so I have to spend less time watching where my lines are.

Most likely if you are used to flying foils, you are not going to be happy with a NPW. Its a good short line kite I guess, have heard of people flying them with just the handles on the bridles. I had the 6.9 meter and it pretty much sucked. I guess pull for $ they are hard to beat for scudding downwind, but buggying upwind is not very good at all. It can be done, but not as well as most foils. I have heard the NPW9 is better at this, but I have only ever flown the NPW5. I hope this helps instead of making you more confused.
