... wife was officially released from hospital today, after having a tumor/lump-thing removed (Castleman's Disease) and laying around for a couple of
weeks. Total cost of the operation? Almost 7,000,000 yen or about US$80,000 at today's exchange rate ...! Total we paid? About US$1,600 but we'll
probably get $800 refunded.
My wrist and surgery cost us less than US$400 for the whole shindig, from ER visit to final consultation.
And today, I went to the local second hand chain store called Hard Off (titter!) and picked up 2x Microsoft Force Feedback-II joysticks for US$30 and
a FFB-I for US$10 ... and a Benq 24in HD LCD monitor for US$150
My winter hobby when the weather is truly foul is flight simming (IL-2 Sturmovik, GP Legends etc) so the joysticks are a particular score - they go
for US$150 on the eBay cos they're not made any more and are particularly popular.
But here, nobody wants them any more so they were in the 'JunS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K- section (like the 3 Les Pauls style guitars I got for US$50 each) but
they still look barely used ... and the monitor is spotless!
It was a 3 year plan ... 8 years ago :D we just bought a second house in NZ and we want to pay as much of that off as possible before we go home so
... who knows. I plan on making the most of living 10 minutes from the lake for the next few summers :D on a crash diet to get into a dry suit too
winter winds are good here!
My first board ride was at New Brighton beach - where the setup bit is done in the PL videos :D and the '34' videos I uploaded to YouTube is around
there at times too. NZ would be a great place to live if it wasn't for the New Zealanders :wow:
Yeah, teaching Engrish in elementary schools. Ok not so much teaching as entertaining in English with English words and stuff
