Feyd sort of indicated he has a prototype. I heard through the grapevine that it was definitely on the drawing board. Unless the price is Charger high, I'll get a 12 and 18. These should be a buggiers dream kite.

sounds promising.........................the 15m Phanny has been the most enjoyable arc Ive flown on water.................flies further up in the window and went upwind very well....................Im thinking the same thing for a buggy.................................never flew my Phantom on land.........................unless you count to and from the water on the beach......................

Were the phantoms designed for lift or speed?

both, not as grunty but works well upwind.............15 to 20 kts on water was awesome..................the locals have grown accustomed to the Flysurfers but were never sure of the arcs...................huge kites in big wind with auto zenith still have them scratchin their board shorts................:o:o:duh:

If they took all the R&D from syn / charger and put that into a high-aspect arc....

It may sound academic, but I thought the Scorp and Vs were supposed to be "improved" Phantoms.

Add some zippers and VPS pulleys - what else is left that's unique? - just the slightly higher aspect?

I still luv my 12m P and I am looking for more. I still find it simpler to fly then trying to dial in the later arcs.

Why does no one complain about launching phantoms when they have a higher AR than the scorpions?

The phantom is 6.5, the Scorp is 5.5 and the Syn is 4.9 for comparison. The phannies are reallllly long and skinny. Tridude has me convinced it is a good water kite when the wind is blowing enough to get the grunt in play, since it sits so far forward in the window. I've body dragged with my Phanny and did a water relaunch no prob. Heck they hit the water so seldom, I don't see it being an issue if the conditions make it suitable for water use. The 15 and 18m Phannies (ones I've flown) are such a joy in the buggy though. I would certainly get a 12m when the IIs come out and maybe later an even smaller one.

I've never had trouble launching my Phanny unless I hooked up the lines backwards (sad isn't it?), didn't have it inflated enough, or there wasn't enough wind to be flying it to start with. All pilot error.

phanny has more top line tension .. the scorpion with the VPS has a bit of bottom line tension. when you launch its not has simple as pulling the center line to get up. on the scorpion you need to pull on the bar a little to give it equal pressure.

however in the upper windrange the scorpion doesnt have this problem, and it does have a HUGE range. I've tried to launch the 16m in sub conditions and its just learning "how to".

never had problem with launches
in 20mph its just an effortless jumping monster land or water.

once the apparent wind starts to flow wow ! the speed ability of the hi AR really comes out.


Phantom II ? phantom is really stripped down and simple, i think adding anything will slow it down. i'll take more chord length for quicker turning, that seems to be a direction of totally different kite. A higher AR scorp seems more likely. guess we'll see

I'm not as crazy about having literal images or cartoons on kites - BUT, the P has the coolest silhouette design of them all!

Word has it that the P2 is a reality and forth coming. Just because we asked for it.

Kind of curious on what sizes and colors.

I still have to find a 9m and 12m for the first set.

If there were ever a kite I'd dive into the NEW market for that'd be it.
