The harsh realities of an inland snowkiter - vid

Well, if any good came out of it it's that I learned a backroll. hehehe Check 1:37 and 2:57 - you'll see what I mean. Wanna see the kind of lulls we were getting? Check 0:54 and the entire end bit. Oh....and somewhere my leash unhooked......1:54

I got the best of the crap gusty winds the hour before on the snowboard but thought I'd spare myself the evidence and left the camera in the car. Tossed the skis on, hit "record" and slugged out the last of the dying winds.

Nothing special - just some cruising on our big lake. Starts off swell.........wraps up in true inland kiter fashion.

Loving the camera though - I'll keep it rolling!

(If YouTube strips the audio I'll start up a Vimeo acct.....it seems fitting.)

Gotta get me a HD GoPro too ... gonna lower the price on my SD and see if I can shift that :)

I can give you three things:

1) a place to stay

2) transportation to and from that lake

3) the lake

What I can't give you:

4) wind

Would you believe the avg depth of that bad boy is recorded at 17 inches. It's a little swampy but it's butter smooth no matter what the wind is doing. Seriously. The Flysurfer team came out here (the team from Germany) to see it for themselves. You don't want to crash a kite in it - it'll stink for life but it's ridden....very frequently.

Snowkite heaven - especially 'cuz it shines in a N/NW wind......and that's all we usually get.

Seriously, any PKFer is welcome to crash here. 20 minutes from my front door to that launch.

That's EXACTLY the spot! 20 minutes from my front door. Pure heaven.

Snowboard had already wrung me out that day...spent an hour with it and barely had enough energy to ski this much. Don't worry....I'm committed to the snowboard - I really really am. A guy's gotta have a bit f fun though too, right?

Beautiful video - beautiful location. Seriously Jealous here. By the way nice correction on the inversions you had there. I had the same issues last weekend, step in - flop - pull center lines, and awayyyy!

True, it's a nice demonstration of how easy an Arc handles when you know how to fly it.

That surface looked like it was a little windslabby. How many riders were out that day?

Nice Vid Kelly
That dead air - flat out kite death twist - been there with crap wind. Nice flip and go. We are getting some instructional clips for new arc users here.
Nice ride and good seeing all the people out there. We've been dead for wind and mild temps for the last week but colder today and some breeze coming.

Riders got out down here last weekend but light winds and warm temps are not helping the local ice situation. They are forecasting temps in the 50s on Sunday and an inch of rain. Looks like I'll be heading back to the beach instead of the lake.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Bad taste maybe.

It was great to see you the other day - you look great by the way, despite all the crap going on on the inside. I hope life deals you some healing hands and we can fly again soon.
