I am looking to buy my first kite board to learn on and hopefully last me once i have got better. I am looking for a board that will be a good all-rounder and have these two in mind. I have seen the hunter in the flesh and looks quite nice but am also considering the core 90. I was told by the chap in the shop that the MBS parts are more expensive and cannot be bought seperately (2 trucks, 4 hubs etc) and he went on to say that the scrub stuff is interchangable with the flexifoil decks.

I am 6ft 2" and weigh 14st/195lbs with size 12 feet so not sure that the core 90 will be suitable for me....the store says this...

Nothing wrong with the boards you mentioned, but have you thought of Ground industries as an option also?

I haven't thought about GI boards mainly because they are hard to get here in the UK, the main brands are scrub, flexi, MBS and trampa. Don't really have the money for a trampa, not so keen on the scrub boards and have seen some MBS boards going cheap online.

I have a MBS Core 95 I set up for carving with 20" Matrix Lites (MBS). I weigh 190 (86.4 kg). Lots of flex and fairly light. I suspect 195 lb on a Core 90 may be a little heavy. Your size 12 feet will drape over both sides of the 8" wide deck though -- big time. I have size 9.5 feet and find 8" narrower than I would like for a carving deck.

Many have said the decks go limp after a lot of hard landings. Be careful buying used MBS core decks -- they may be played out if they were mostly used for off-road riding, jumps and big airs.

Turns out that flex damps speed for carving. Too bad you are across the pond. I'd be happy to sell you mine for a good price.

Here in the states you can buy all MBS parts separately if you like. All of my carving rigs are custom assemblies from parts bought independently.

MBS all the way Buddy!

Me and my brother both bought boards at the same time recently, i bought a used MBS board, he bought a Brand new FlexiFoil Tracker.

His board was stiff and horrible, mine was loose and worn in.

Mine rode the bumps better, he was compaining about getting stuck in rutts when i dint realise there was any.

Hes 6ft 5 and 15 stone, he broke the strap just jumping out of the bindings because he was off balance at about 2mph, The straps were on properly but the Straps ripped from the bolts in the deck, stupid design! absolutley rubbish imo. My MBS Board has visible Bindings, i can see the metal plates and bolts and know they aint gunna break, on the Flexifoil Boards, they are hidden under a load of stupid excess paddinga and what not.

Stick with something reliable and oldskool mate, MBS is perfect..Or even Trampa if you have some dollar

Oh btw my brother has size bigger than 12s, dunno what specifically but he also had trouble just getting the straps loose enough to fit them in...let alone loose enough to jump out, he found that his stance was wrong, his legs were too close together unlike on my board where my balls dangle free with my legs nice and spreaded, and my straps are loose as you want them, infact i started jumping yesterday and tightened them up a lil bit and my bro still slided his fett in no problem.

PS not exagerating but my bro actually had to wear thinner shoes because he couldnt get his feet in the straps at there loosest.

But is the Hunter completly different to the Tracker? i should hope so because my bros tracker is going back to the shop BIGTIME!

I am the only GI owner out of a bunch of MBS riders, and they all really love how light my board is compared to theirs, only complaint I get about mine is stance is too narrow. Nothing a few new holes wouldn't fix.

But at the same time, we do ride with a guy who is on a 1st Gen MBS...super giant cadillac compared to my GI
